I never wanted to be a photographer. I thought in order to be successful and fulfilledto live a meaningful life, I needed to do something highly-paid and more important. Something scholarly. I thought it would be impossible to live the life I desired as a creative. Photographers inspire, empower, and help people explore the world around them. They are often there on your best (& sometimes hardest) days. They wear SOO many different hatsI think it is a...n admirable profession. Ohhhh how I wish I could go back in time to past Bre (even a month ago) and slap her square in the face I wish I could tell her that money is not the key to happiness. I wish I could tell her that it is okay not to pursue education if doing it because she’s supposed to. I wish I could tell her that photography was her calling, even if she was too stubborn to see it. Having the opportunity to mentor under @kaylynmclachlan has been one of the best dang opportunities, I’ve EVER been given. I’ve known Kaylyn for FOUR MONTHS and she has taught me more than I feel I’ll EVER be able to teach anyone. If you are currently feeling lost in your profession, or are torn between chasing money and following your callingI want you to listen closely. This is my prayer for you. What I wish I would’ve known. It’s really quite simple: Everything is going to be okay. If you aren’t happy without money, money will not change anything for you. Success does not have a clear definition. You are doing the best you can, and that is enough. Chase happiness. Chase joy. Chase your dreams. See more

Wanna know my #1 secret to making the most out of your couple session? DO SOMETHING THAT YOU LOVE TOGETHER. Let me break it down even more, into two little bitsy bite sized pieces.... 1 Pick an activity that the two of you like to do together in your free time. Maybe that is watching a movie all snuggled up at home, maybe it is longboarding together, reading together, rock climbing together, camping, having fires, watching a movie from the back of the truck, going to the arcade, the brewery, your fav café, or eating messy tacos...WHATEVER YOUR HEART CAN DREAM OF! I know it may seem odd, but TRUST me on this one. It’ll help you, and me more than you know. 2 Once we have nailed the details, do that activity, and forget I’m there. It’s THAT FRIGGIN SIMPLE! Here’s the deal: when you and your partner are doing something that is natural to you, it allows us to captures such a raw, honest moment that authentically tells your UNIQUE love story!!!!! That is when MAGIC happens I challenge you to think about your session as a legitimate date night! You WILL see tremendous fricken results, and end up with the most true-to-you, GORGEOUS gallery everrrrr!!!!! (When you are having fun, it makes me feel inspired too!) I promise, it’ll rock your socks off! - I used to get allll bent outta shape trying to find the perfect photo to post. I would ask myself, What will my followers or audience like the MOST?! What will book the MOST clients?? But I realized, it’s WAY better for EVERYONE when you share your work that YOU love most. The work that inspires ME the most. Because the reality is, MY kinda party peeps will get excited by that too!!! I LOVE THEIR LOVE. THIS SESSION. I’LL NEVER BE OVER THIS DAYYY!!
