Our curbside pick-up laid out nice and neat. Van deliveries will still be happening on Tuesdays with a small break for the holiday (no delivery on December 29) which the library is also closed for! Again, our book drop box is open 24hrs a day and oversized items can be dropped off in the lobby area during business hours. https://libraryaware.com/276TX5

Happy 2021! Here’s to the adventures in the new year!
Just hours away from 2021! 2020 may not have been the best year but you have to admit that there were some amazing books and movies that were read and watched. What was your favourite thing you read, watched or listened to in 2020? Anything you're looking forward in 2021? Let us know in the comments!
Today we would have talking about New Kid by Jerry Craft for our Picture Book activities. Instead of an in-person talk, here is why this book is high on the recommendation list! From your local librarian Katelynn, she says: In this graphic novel, we meet Jordan who is a prolific artist and new student in a seemingly ‘progressive and diverse’ school. We learn about his struggles to not only adapt to a new environment but his struggles in making friends that maybe don’t look l...ike him and how he views that. We also meet some of his other friends and classmates who just don’t understand the power of their words and how that affects the other students. Thinking about the current environment when it comes to racial inequality and the Black Lives Matter movement, this book is a really good way to start the conversation with kids and young adults about racism. This book touches on micro-aggressions and looks at building a social circle from the viewpoint that some of us will never understand. This is not a book about ‘being too sensitive’, this is a book about what one kid may go through and feel being a visible minority. This graphic novel is available in the library and is recommended for readers aged 8-13. Our activity relating to this book is creating your own comic strip! In the comments are some templates (also available in the library) or freestyle it! Embrace your inner storyteller and create something awesome. See more
Today we are making crayon ornaments inspired by Drew Daywalt's book The Day the Crayons Quit. This story is a fabulous example of expressing thoughts, feelings and having no fear in doing so. Enjoy this animated presentation of the book! We also have a copy in the library if anyone would like to take it home for a story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPkrhIEoOJg
Happy Christmas to all our readers
Good morning! This week the library will be closing early on Tuesday and Wednesday. For this week only: Tuesday 10-3 Wednesday 10-4 Thank you for understanding and our apologies for any inconvenience.
Happy Friday everyone! With recent government restrictions and the rise of COVID cases in Alberta, we at the library are making some immediate changes to ensure patron's health and safety. 1) In-person programming is suspended until the new year. Our remaining Picture Book activities will be take-home activities upon request. There is a theme for December so stay tuned for that!! 2) If able to, please wear a mask while in the library. No judgement will ensue to those that c...annot wear a mask due to physical or mental complications. 3) Sanitize hands when coming in. If you do not want to use the sanitizer, please use our bathroom facilities for hand washing. 4) Follow all signage in library and try to maintain 6ft distance between yourself, other patrons and staff. Staff will wear masks when social distancing is not possible. 5) "Shop" with purpose. 6) Curbside pickup is always an option for those that do not want to enter the library. We understand that everyone is tired of restrictions, COVID and living life a little differently. On that note, the last thing we all want is for the library to be shut down again or to have someone get sick from using our services. Lets work together to create a safe and healthy environment for everyone. For any questions, comments or concerns please contact the library through phone, email or Facebook. See more
Today is your last day in 2020 to get any materials! We are open till 5pm for contactless pickup. Call, email or message us on here for anything you need to carry you into 2021 From all of us here at the Breton Library, thank you for making our jobs amazing! Happy Christmas and an awesome New Years to all our patrons and their families. We cannot wait to see all your smiling faces sometime in the new year. Until then, be kind to one another, enjoy the time with those closest to you and happy reading
This is so exciting! If you get any app this year, this is the one to get. You can add your account (barcode and pin) and order, renew and check the status of all your materials right off your smart device. The coolest part is the self-service function! Using the camera on your phone, you can scan your own materials and check them out to you instantly! See a neat book, movie, or CD when shopping? Scan the barcode on the back and place a hold on the item right then and there. Need help or have more questions about the app? Ask the library for more info :) https://libraryaware.com/26QXVY
The Breton Book Club is currently reading The Accidental Further Adventures Of The Hundred Year Old Man by Jonas Jonasson. Discussion will be in our Facebook group beginning January 13th. If you would like to join us, contact the library to arrange curbside pickup of the book, and join Breton Book Club on Facebook. Just a reminder that the library will be closed from December 24th to January 4th.
Laurie Keindel is the perfect example of a good Samaritan. She stomped this out in the snow for a WW2 Vet who lives in a Senior Home in Devon, Alberta. #lestweforget2020 - Ethan
