For 3 years, 4Hundred Source for Sports owner, Sean Venedam, avoided his passion at all costs after suffering a very serious leg injury, doing what he loved most playing hockey. Here’s Sean’s story: ‘I never actually thought I would skate again let alone play hockey! I was resentful and started to develop a hate for the game... JJ Watt the football player has a great quote, Success isn’t owned - it’s leased and rent is due everyday. The same can be said about the game of ...hockey. The game that had given me everything had taken it all away without warning... my leg and spirit with it, in the process. As cliché as it sounds, I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. The game I was hurt in was only seconds away from being over, it was a game I was not even supposed to be playing in because I was dealing with a separate injury (we had a depleted line up and I decided after warm up that I wanted to play). The actual break in my leg was something that I was supposed to heal from and return from in 6 months with no issues. 3 years into this ordeal, I was laying on the couch recovering from another surgery on my leg in the hopes of saving it. Foggy from the narcotics with the TV on in the background - it was Hockey Day In Canada Rogers Hometown Hockey on CBC and they were featuring a story on the Canadian Amputee Hockey Committee. I immediately googled them. Within a few months of that airing, I sent out an email. For the first time in this whole process, I felt like I had found hope. Someone who would understand and get what I was going through...this was just the beginning!! I couldn’t believe skating and playing hockey was even an option as an amp, but I was quickly going to learn that it was about more than that. I now know that anything in life is an option if you are willing to fight for it and pursue it.’ The owners at Source For Sports are in this business because of their experience and passion for the sports that they sell.
