MOTIONBALL - SEPT 23 Later this month I am captaining a Motionball team ("Torts Illustrated") and we are looking for a few more teammates! For those who are unaware, at Motionball teams are paired with Special Olympian athletes and participate in a fun-filled day of various (non-competitive) sports in support of Special Olympics Canada. I have participated in the last three Motionball events and can personally vouch for it being a great time! Note that there is a small fundraising component but the swag you receive, the people you meet, and the fun you have at Motionball make it more than worth your time!

CMHC presented their 2017 real estate market analysis to the Urban Development Institute luncheon this afternoon. Here are some highlights from 2016 to 2017: - Increased demand for apartment and multi-unit inventory... - Anticipating increase of vacancy rates due to great number of dedicated rental apartment. - Average rents for 1 bedroom in 2016 was $1,094 (up from $945 in 2015) and 2 bedroom was $1,312 (up from $1,205 in 2015). That said, these increases are in line with carrying cost ratios due to increased property values. 2017 Forecast (anticipated) - Record year for single family housing starts - Increased rental vacancy and improved vacancy rates 2018 Forecast (anticipated) - Strong population growth - Shift to strong condo starts - Continued improved vacancy rates For more information and historical data, see CMHC's housing observer online!
