Covid makes it difficult to plan for our Christmas Shop & Hop. Local businesses in Lyndhurst, Seeley’s Bay and Outlet have been brainstorming ideas.....

Chef Moira’s retirement....the long version. My first kitchen job was at The Cataraqui Golf Club in Kingston in 1977/78! I went to George Brown College, did my apprenticeship at The Harbour Castle Hilton. Worked at The Kensington Bakery, The Hungarian Village, Jasper Park Lodge, Blue Angel Restaurant, David Wood Food Shop, Kitchen Table Store, Lisa Shamai Cuisinere, Oliver’s Bistro, Delta Chelsea Inn, Beach Bar Restaurant...Phew! Then I got roped into teaching food prep/...chef training/hospitality in 3 high schools over 23 years! My latest adventure has been 8 1/2 years of Briarlea Kitchen. Over the years I have cooked, catered, chopped and chilled. Peeled, poached and plucked. Mixed, mashed and measured in both metric and imperial. I’ve cleaned grease traps and griddles, exhaust fans and deep fryers. I’ve had a seat to myself on the subway after chopping lobster for 8 hours I have fed firefighters, quilters, wrestlers, politicians and royalty, teenagers and seniors. Dairy farmers, crop farmers, ice fishers and nurses. Ladies golf, the men too. I’ve catered weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and funerals. Proms, reunions and Christmas dinners. I’ve been able to teach, coach and judge. I’ve been blessed to love what I do for over 40 years. I’ve worked with loads of fun, talented, amazing people. The short story.....

Going, going......gone! The 2020 blueberry season is finished. Sid and Moira may run the show but there would be no show without our wonderful pickers and our new and returning customers! Thank you all!

Wow! What an awesome team of pickers . You’ve been enjoying our blueberries because of their hard work! Just a couple days left to enjoy fresh berries.

The bad news is, we are sold out of frozen blueberries The good news is, fresh berries are coming soon, but how soon? Stop by and fill out a ballot. If you correctly guess the first day we put blueberries out for sale you will win a 2L. basket of blueberries! Sweet eh?
