Check out this amazing article about The Brick Invitational from The Athletic https://theathletic.com//an-oral-history-of-the-greatest-/
Unfortunately, today we must announce the cancellation of our 2020 summer tournament. As a result of the most recent health measures enacted by the Province of Alberta regarding elimination of group activities in order to help stop the spread of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) during the summer months in 2020, the Brick Invitational will not be held as previously scheduled. Our executive committee has been closely following the Covid-19 situation and, with an expectation that t...he Tournament would be delayed, our initial plans were to look at a reschedule for later in the summer. Unfortunately, this simply will not be possible in 2020 commented Brick Invitational Chairman, Craig Styles. It is extremely difficult having to deliver this news and dash the hopes of so many players and families that have been working hard over the years to get to this level of play. It is these players and families that the Alberta Health measures aim to protect, and the safety of our participants and volunteers is paramount continued Mr. Styles. The Brick Invitational tournament committee is now committed to work directly with West Edmonton Mall and our volunteers to determine the options for these players for the summer of 2021. We are very hopeful that we will be able to announce a special opportunity for those players that have made the 2020 teams, to participate in a once in a lifetime experience, by also playing in the Brick Invitational next year at West Edmonton Mall for players in the 2010 birth year. Our hope is that we will be able to do this next summer and in effect hold two tournaments. Careful consideration will be given to all available options; however, it will be dependent on support from our teams, sponsors and volunteers. We are very proud of the unique experience our tournament offers and we are committed to a solution for this years’ players. Full details are expected to be announced on or before September 30, 2020 added Mr. Styles.
We are heartbroken to hear that long-time Team California coach Igor has passed away. Igor gave so much to the California hockey community and will be missed by so many. Rest in peace Igor! You will always be remembered
Thinking of all the Humboldt Broncos, their family and friends, and the whole hockey community today. #humboldtstrong
