ATTENTION ALUMNI... We are launching a new BridgePoint Book Club to dig a little deeper into perfectionism and how it may show up with disordered eating. Is this often your inner voice? What will people think if I’m not perfect and don’t succeed? ... When will I stop feeling the need to prove myself to others? Do I really want to be surviving but not thriving in my life? While change is a vulnerable experience (risky, uncertain and exposes us emotionally), the question we must ultimately answer is this: What’s the greater risk? Letting go of what people think or letting go of who you are? The Gifts of Imperfection explores The Ten Guideposts for Wholehearted Living that help you move from feeling fearful, judgmental and alone, to cultivating the gifts of courage, compassion, and connection. This work is about learning to love our imperfections, reconnecting to our worthiness, and becoming firmly grounded in a deep sense of love and belonging. WHEN: Thursday Evenings 7-9pm from April 1, 2021 - June 3, 2021 WHERE: Online PRE-REQUISITE: Completion of onsite or online Virtual Retreat at BridgePoint REGISTER NOW (Open to Saskatchewan residents): https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/book-club-gifts-of-imperfection

Eating Disorder Sensitive: Education for Dietitians We know that Dietitians serve an important role in supporting those impacted by disordered eating/eating di...sorders. You may have someone in your practice you are concerned about, or perhaps you have clients who initially request help with binge eating. Often those with eating disorders will seek out a dietitian as the first step in their recovery process. This course has been created by Dietitians, incorporates the best available evidence, and has been reviewed by experts in the field. It will help you develop your knowledge and skills related to various forms of eating disorders, when to be concerned, communicating with clients, additional resources available, and more. This program has been developed by Body Brave in partnership with Eating Disorders NS. Presented by the Body Peace Collaborative (Body Brave, Eating Disorders Nova Scotia, BridgePoint Center for Eating Disorders, Canopy Eating Disorders Support Services - New Zealand). You may never need it, but if you are diagnosed with COVID-19, your contact record could help significantly slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Contact trac...ing is essentially detective work. It begins when someone tests positive for COVID-19. That person is asked to list, with as much detail as possible, where they have been and who they have been in contact with. If you were diagnosed with COVID-19, could you name every person and location you and/or your family has been in the last two weeks including times and dates? Lives are busy and remembering all that detail, especially if multiple family members are involved, can be hard! Step 1: Plan Your options for recording your contacts are vast. Use your phone, a daytimer, a calendar or even just a notepad. Step 2: Do Record the details of when, where and who for every bubble member. Make sure to include the date and which member of your bubble was involved and at what time. Please ensure you have valid phone numbers for these people at the ready. Example - August 17 XX Pharmacy, Mom, ~11am XX dentist, Mom & R, 11:45am-12:15pm XX grocery store, Dad, 4:30pm XXs house with friends F, J and T, C, 8-10:30pm Step 3: Repeat daily

BridgePoint Center for Eating Disorder Recovery 04.03.2020

Some people may be over COVID-19, but COVID-19 isnt over for any of us. Thats the message of caution from Dr. David Torr, a medical health officer for the... Saskatchewan Health Authority, and previous co-commander of the SHAs Public Health Incident Command Centre. We need to remind folks that COVID-19 is very much here. The activity level may vary across different parts of the province, but that doesnt mean its gone. It will be here for some time. Welcome to the new normal. Given our new circumstances, we need to determine what we can do to be as normal as possible without endangering ourselves or others, he said. At a personal level, you should be more meticulous in habits like frequent and thorough handwashing, physical distancing, avoiding touching your face or surfaces, remembering who your social contacts are over the past two weeks, getting tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms and protecting others, especially the vulnerable. At a societal level, he continued, this means youre not shaking hands or hugging people as we used to. Youre washing your hands before you enter a store and, while in the store, for example, when youre shopping or in line up to pay, youre staying a six-foot distance from others." Proper masking (covering from the top nose to under the chin) is an important practice for the general public if a person cant maintain a six-foot distance from others, he said. If you and the person next to you are both wearing masks, youll minimize transmission. But you dont have to wear a mask in the car by yourself or if youre in an open field and no one is within two metres of you. Another good practice is to have hand sanitizer with you, especially when youre out and about and cant wash your hands, he said. COVID-19 doesnt ask much, said Dr. Torr. It just asks that you get close to someone else so it can keep moving. Were asking that you minimize the opportunity for it to spread. He cautioned that although we are reducing physical contact with others throughout this time, we need to be careful not to isolate ourselves. There are concerns about COVID-19 making us less social. This will have mental health impacts in the future. With those mental health impacts comes chronic disease. Human beings live in a society. We still need to interact with each other, but safely, he added. We also need to enjoy the outdoors. Sunlight, fresh air and the mental relief of being out in the open are useful for our physical, mental and social health. Regardless of where we are, we need to ensure we dont allow the transmission of COVID-19. While residents can now extend their social bubbles to include those outside of their own households, Dr. Torr asks that people add others to their social circle in a gradual, controlled way, always maintaining good infection control measures. The amount COVID-19 spreads very much depends on how much we let our guard down. What happens tomorrow depends on what we do today. He noted that the presence of COVID-19 has reinforced the importance of good, personal infection control measures. Even though we have other infections such as influenza that have been going on for years, we have let our guards down many times. COVID-19 is reminding us to be more meticulous about our hygiene: staying home when ill, washing your hands frequently, especially after touching surfaces and maintaining some degree of distance from others, especially in public places. It doesnt mean we should lock ourselves indoors, but we should take more care. Testing is also important, he added, especially if you suspect youve been exposed to COVID-19. We should remember that COVID-19 has no boundaries; it affects us all. As a province, we have a responsibility to support each other through these challenging times, to stay positive, and to continue working together in the spirit of kindness and generosity that defines this province. Dr. Torr said we need to think of the new normal as a balancing act where we adopt practices that minimize the spread of infection while maintaining social, cultural and economic activities. These are the things that make life what it is. https://www.saskhealthauthority.ca//COVID-19-Living-in-the #COVID19SK
