The Bridgetown Curling Club is now taking registrations for the 2020/21 season. Start date is scheduled for early November. The impact of COVID 19 means curling will be a bit different this season, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyable and sociable. New to curling? Reduced rates for new members. Come give it a try. COVID protocols are in place. We’ve been socially distancing since before it became a catchphrase. Registration forms are available on the Bridgetown Curling Club website at (bridgetowncurlingclub.com) or email inquiries to ([email protected])

Hi Curlers, The Ice Crew has been working very hard and the lines and rings should be down today. If all things continue to go well the ice could be ready for use Thursday, Nov 5. The plan is to have Drop In and Learn to Curl for members and new curlers, Thursday, Nov.5; Monday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov.12. Evening League play will begin on Monday, Nov. 16. We are still taking sign ups for Evening Leagues. If you want to curl and are looking for a team, or have a team to ente...r, please contact Sandra Hackenschmidt. For the Afternoon Senior League, contact Gerry Brackett. Registrations will be accepted online or the first evening you curl. Please keep in mind that for the most part, it will be curling as normal with some new health and safety, and cleaning procedures in place. REMEMBER: You must sign in every day you enter the facility. The COVID declaration must be signed and returned before you curl. All forms can be downloaded from the Bridgetown Curling Club Website. More updates will follow as necessary. Thank you. Tim

Bridgetown Curling Club closure. Having carefully considered all of the relevant information and suggested practices concerning COVID-19 and following numerous consultations with several members of the executive and club members at large, and following the cancellation of the 2020 Farmer's Bonspiel, the executive of the Bridgetown Curling Club has made the decision to cancel all curling for the remainder of the 2019/20 curling season effective immediately, March 15, 2020. Al...though a tough decision, we do feel that this is the most pragmatic action. As you know there are many areas that would need to be disinfected on a regular basis to ensure that all are protected and we feel the risks are not worth taking. Out of respect to the many individuals, of all ages that enter and use our facility, and out of respect to community members and our health care professionals that may be affected by this highly contagious virus, this move is being made with the safety of many in mind. Thank you for a great curling season and we look forward to seeing you at club events during the rest of the year and the 2020/21 curling season. On Behalf of the Executive of the Bridgetown Curling Club Tim Jackson President

3rd Annual Joe Tidd Memorial Bonspiel The 3rd annual Joe Tidd Memorial Bonspiel is taking place this weekend at the Bridgetown Curling Club. The action among the 18 teams begins Friday, Feb. 21 at 4 PM and continues Saturday through to the finals Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23. The Joe Tidd Memorial Bonspiel was established to honour the memory of a lifetime member of the Bridgetown Curling Club, Joe Tidd, a great curler, ice maker, mentor and competitor. We are proud that as part... of Joe’s legacy, one third of the proceeds generated by this tournament will go to Annapolis Special Olympics. Thank you to all the curlers, volunteers, and sponsors that help make these events successful. As a special treat, renowned entertainer Caleb Miles has offered his musical talents to entertain you Saturday evening, starting 7:30 PM. Curling and music, all under one roof, what more can you ask for!! There is NO CHARGE! We invite everyone to drop in and enjoy the action and our hospitality.

Anonymous Donation On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, I was pleased to accept a check in the amount of $4000 from Marilyn Kaulbach, representing the Bridgetown Community Fund. On behalf of the Bridgetown Curling Club, a very heart felt THANK YOU to our anonymous donor. ________________ The Bridgetown Area Community Fund was established in 2009 by a group of interested citizens of Bridgetown and surrounding communities whose mandate was to establish an endowment fund w...hich would support local organizations, not only for today but for many years to come. The Bridgetown Area has benefited greatly from the generosity of many of its residents (past and present), service clubs, community organizations and businesses. Many of the community’s facilities, such as the arena, swimming pool, tennis courts and Jubilee Park would not exist today if not for donations made by individuals and organizations. These facilities are integral to the quality of life of the Bridgetown Area communities and continue to offer recreational and social opportunities for area residents and visitors alike. More recently, the community’s support of the fire hall, library and natural playground has demonstrated both the generosity of Bridgetown and area residents and their wish to see the community continue to offer a high quality of life now and in the future. Our Fund has been set up as a Member Fund of the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia (CFNS). Community Foundations bring together people who care about their communities. They are independent, volunteer driven, charitable organizations that aim to strengthen their communities by facilitating charitable giving, by partnering with donors to build permanent endowments and other funds from which they support community projects, and by providing leadership on issues of broad community concern. Tax deductible receipts can be issued. See more
