While our market is hibernating, some of our vendors are still busy and creative.

The challenges faced by caregivers of acquired brain injury (ABI) survivors are often great, and the resources available to them are often limited especially for those who do not live in a major city. The goal of the Caring Forward project is to learn more about the experience and challenges of unpaid caregivers of ABI survivors in Nova Scotia. Prior to opening her own business, Brenda was working as a baker at Tim Hortons. After a few years of working in the food service industry for other people, she decided she wanted to be her own boss. In this week's feature, meet a vendor whose been around since the beginning of the market! R&R Corkum Farms is a family farm who raise all of their animals free-range, hormone and antibiotic-free, and grass-fed. The farm has been in the family for seven generations, with Ralph’s daughters now being the eighth generation. ... Beef is the main thing, Ralph said. The farm has over 100 heads of cattle and produces steak, ground beef, stew beef, and other beef products, as well as pork products like bacon (belly and back), pork tenderloin, and sausages in a variety of unique flavours. We are back at the Bridgewater Farmer's Market tomorrow from 9-12.....despite Mother Nature putting an end to our outdoor blooms, we still have plenty of colour... heading to the market. We have an abundance of peppers (sweet and heat), tomatoes, leeks, onions, garlic...by the piece or the pound (eating, planting, braids), carrots, beets, dried lavender and lavender sachets, a few fresh flower arrangements and wreaths, and honey.
