Try this scavenger hunt by finding different objects in your home! Using phrases like the ones shown below (tap and swipe for more) allows children to make connections between the objects and words that describe them. For instance, tell children the cat is soft. This activity allows children to take the next step in their understanding of the word soft i.e. "our cat is soft, but so is my blanket, and my stuffed bear!"
Make a sticky collage using tape! Wrap tape (with the sticky side out) around the legs of a chair or stool, a small table, or the back of a chair to create your sticky collage surface. Grab a variety of objects (such as: buttons, ripped up paper, tissue paper, and pom poms) to stick onto the tape. Then start sticking! This activity can be a lot of fun for children to stick and unstick the objects over and over strengthening those small hand and finger muscles, and developing better dexterity! #playideasforkids
Do you ever look at your spice cabinet to decide what to make for dinner? Likely not because too many spices means too many choices, and can result in feeling overwhelmed or even frustrated. The same can be true for your child when they play especially when they're exploring new play ideas or materials. Fortunately, there are small adjustments you can make so your child's play isn't overwhelming or over stimulating! Tap the images below for 3 ways to prevent over stimulation in your child's play.
Grab some water and paper towels for this sticky collage activity! Start by having your child to tear up the paper towel. Then use a spray bottle or some small bowls of water (food colouring optional) to wet the paper towel. Next, peel the pieces apart and stick them to the window! Try making images and shapes, or sticking and re-sticking them over again. You can even leave the paper towel up to see if it falls! #playideasforkids
