Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate ALL the women who contribute to the Birthright Israel experience: participants, madrichot (Hebrew for plural, female trip leaders), tour educators, donors, and organizational staff and partners from around the globe!
Shabbat is coming...Feel the Groove!
Purim to Shabbat...Score! Chag Sameach and Shabbat Shalom!
Fun Purim Fact: Did you know that the real name of the heroine of Purim, is not actually Esther? Esther was her pseudonym, derived from the Hebrew word L’hasteer , meaning ‘to conceal’. The queen’s real name was Hadassah. She had to conceal her Jewish identity so King Achashverosh would choose her as his queen and, subsequently, thwart Haman’s plans to annihilate the Jews. Who knew? Chag Purim Sameach (starting at sundown)!
Thanks to the incredible and ever-growing Birthright Israel alumni community, we have a canon of trip stories that truly inspire, like one from our very own Jaclyn Leebosh. Jaclyn has lead four trips (and she is not done yet). Through her leadership, she has been instrumental in connecting people from across Canada to Israel and to each other. Jaclyn maintains close connections with so many past participants and she is genuinely invested in building a strong and promising Jewish future as a volunteer advisor and mentor to our Young Leadership Council.
