Being a production weaver enables me to weave fibres and colours, I wouldn't usually have the opportunity to play with! These are Suri alpaca/merino throws from a retired futurity breeder in the US. She requested rustic throws in these series of colours. The first few throws of the shuttle and I love them!! What do you think. Are you more rustic chic, or elegant lines? Do you consider these rustic? . .... . . . . #rustic #elegant #custom #weaving #handwoven #inlove #throw #snuggle #couchpotatoe #handweaving #weavers #gcweaver #suri #alpaca #merino #colour #stripes #cozycomfort #moreplease #order #madeinNB #handmade #oldcraft #chic #homedecor #ooak #oneofakind #weavingmom #studio #handcrafted See more

Both looms in my studio are empty.... I'm not sure this has happened before! There are a long line of waiting projects for both. Custom Merino/alpaca blankets for the AVL and custom Suri Alpaca/Merino blankets for the leclerc. I need to wind bobbins for the big loom to sectionally beam, and wind the warp for the colorful suri blankets. All part of the process, not my favorite, but integral steps to set up success while weaving. 2 empty looms. What a thing!
I know a few customers have some of our yarn on their shelves - hoarding it. I also feel personally called out by this article and endevoring to use more of my hoard/stash in my knitting and weaving. It's no use hiding in a cupboard when I can show it off! https://handwovenmagazine.com/precious-use-6-tips-control/
Love the quite of the christmas season. Different this year than last, but a magical season none the less. Slowing down to cuddle baby girl, knit and watch the boys play legos. A few days until we gear back up into work, school and weaving schedules. How are you recharging?
Cold feet? We have all the alpaca to keep you warm! 2 more absolute customer favorites are the Alpaca insoles and socks! Alpaca insoles are 100% alpaca, felted in layers and act like any other insole. Except it's alpaca, and 100% natural. No chemicals, plastics etc. Buy your size and cut to fit your footwear. Washing instructions are included, but once you decide they are finished, simply pop in the compost bin. Alpaca is moisture wining, odor resistant and so warm! Our soc...ks have all the same properties as our insoles with the added benefit of 20% nylon in the yarn for strength and durability. These are hars wearing socks, that are soft and warm. Our clients wear them while working in the woods, the military, farming, around the house and running errands. They can even be machine washed and dried! Both are sized sm-XL Insoles are $20 while socks are $40 plus shipping and taxes. Send me a message to order yours now. Quantities are limited and they are a hugely popular at Christmas! Order online too - www.brigadoonfiberfarm.com
Threading these cheery colors and focusing on controling the threads as we listen to the wind howling, a whistle coming from a few places in the house as the gale winds demand entrance. The power is flickering and we're waiting for the next onslaught of rain. Expecting up to 130mm (9") today. Just today. I've been anxious about windstorms since we went through a hurricane in Ontario that damaged our home and community. But the threads I can control. Baby is snoozing and animals are tucked up in the barn. Except for the foolish dogs who insist on yelling at the rain for persisting. Controlling the threads and focusing on the good.
#farmmom baby girls first tractor ride today! Because farm chores dont wait and winters coming. She had her own ear protectors too, so she was safe and tucked up snug in a sling do you baby wear? Tips and tricks?
