Words are much more powerful than they seem. One word can change someone’s entire day, one quote can change someone’s life forever. Over the past two weeks, we have asked the Windermere community to write a quote or phrase that is believed to discourage suicide, and we were so happy to see all the submissions. We thank everyone who has taken time out of their day to send in a photo and we hope you know that your quote can potentially help someone. Helping someone find hope, ...even the smallest bit of it, can make a life changing difference. Although Suicide Prevention Month is coming to an end, that does not mean the awareness and support for those who have been affected by suicide should stop too. Brighter Tomorrows will forever continue to fight for mental health and well-being and we urge you all to do the same. Again, if you are having any thoughts or feelings that you want to talk about, please reach out to someone you trust, or seek professional help. #suicidepreventionmonth
A suicidal mindset is hard to comprehend when never experienced. Books are not only one of the best ways to learn more about it, but it also allows you to see life through someone else’s perspective. Books are also a great way to show that no one is alone. When authors share their personal experiences, they show that recovery is possible and there are many things worth living for. Here is a list of books about how authors dealt with mental illness, their recovery process, etc. #suicidepreventionweek #suicidepreventionmonth
Words can often have as much of an effect on a person as actions do, so why not make it a good one? Brighter Tomorrows is planning to put together a video aimed at giving hope to those who are having dark or suicidal thoughts, and we need your help! To participate, all you have to do is write down a quote or phrase that you believe discourages suicide on a piece of paper, then take a picture of yourself holding it up (you don’t have to show your face if you’re not comfortable with that!) and send it to us through DM. Submissions close on September 27 at 11:59pm. #suicidepreventionweek #suicidepreventionmonth
To undergo a suicidal mindset can change the way someone acts, dresses, eats, and so much more. It is important to recognize these signs before it is too late. Having a helping hand in something as traumatizing as this can be just the one thing someone needs. However, helping someone has a lot of responsibilities within itself too. Read more to find out what you can do or say to help someone having suicidal thoughts or feelings. One question, conversation, or action can make the biggest difference. #suicidepreventionweek #suicidepreventionmonth
Knowing the signs of a person in a crisis could be the difference between life and death. If you know someone who exhibits these behaviours, talk to them. Letting them know that someone cares can make a massive impact on their mindset. #suicidepreventionweek #suicidepreventionmonth
If you are ever feeling suicidal, know that you are not alone and many people want to help you. Here are a list of hotlines and resources you or someone you know can contact when feeling alone and want to talk. Remember, there is always hope even when it seems like there isn’t. #suicidepreventionweek #suicidepreventionmonth
Sometimes, the world can seem painfully unfair, and no matter how much you try to see it in a positive light, tomorrow suddenly becomes an option. Choose it, because the world can truly be beautiful if you take the time to look in the right places, and there are people out there who are willing to show you. From September 7-12, we will be participating in National Suicide Prevention Week in order to raise awareness and provide support to all people who have been affected by suicide. Everyone has a place in this world. Stay with us, so you can see. #suicidepreventionweek #suicidepreventionmonth
With the dawn of a new month bringing forth the opportunity for a fresh start, Windermere for Wellness is proud to finally announce our rebranding under a new name: Brighter Tomorrows! Along with the change to our name and face, we as a club plan to further develop as a useful outlet for the promotion of mental health awareness, as well as create a safe and welcoming space to aid the entirety of the Windermere community on the road to self-betterment during the school year. ... Additionally, we’re also aiming to give advice for getting through the ups and downs in life and assist the community in understanding the impact that using certain mental illness terms can have on the lives of others. Stay tuned, as we will provide resources such as inclusive workshops and events, written articles, and interactive activities, both online and in person, to tackle these points in the future! We encourage everyone in the Windermere community, whether you be a student, teacher or even a parent, to come together and join us in our mission to bring the topic of mental wellness to light!

Here is an example of artwork that meets the criteria and can be submitted to the Happiness Art Campaign. For me, happiness is found in the simplest aspects of life. Sitting on the couch bathing in the 6am summer sunlight is a rare catharsis for me, especially nowadays, with the stress of school and the work that comes with it forcing me to sleep and wake up later. I often forget how refreshing it can be to do nothing but look back at fond memories while sipping on a nice, warm drink. - Ashley Quinto, Grade 11
