Bright Nights in Stanley Park 04.01.2021

A whole new viewing experience! If you've already watched our Bright Nights virtual train ride, now you can experience it with a full 360 view! With this video, our crafty elves have made an immersive ride during which YOU can control the view. Have a look around the tracks and notice displays you haven't seen yet. There's lots to take in! ... Simply play the video and click & drag your cursor to move the camera angle in any direction. If you're on your phone or tablet, just point your device around you as your viewfinder -- maybe you'll even catch a glimpse of some sneaky forest residents! If you had fun, be sure to show some love to BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund with a donation at www.burnfund.org. Your generosity will help provide life saving, life supporting, and life enriching services to burn survivors. Thank you so much for your support!

Due to overwhelming requests, TicketLeader has now added a refund option to allow ticketholders to direct their refunds to the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund directly if so desired. This is completely voluntary; refunds will be automatically processed on December 11th, and so ticketholders have until then to select the option to donate their refund instead. If you had tickets for any time slots between December 8-January 1, and would like to direct your refund to Burn Fund, please check your email for instructions from TicketLeader on how to do so. Thank you to our incredible community for helping to make this holiday bright!

Event Update: Due to the extension of the Provincial Health order, we are very saddened to announce that #BrightNightsYVR is cancelled this year. We thank you for your understanding during this time, as we know this will be a disappointment for many of you who choose to make Bright Nights a treasured yearly tradition. Ticketholders who have purchased tickets will be automatically receiving a refund from TicketLeader; these transactions may take 10-14 days to appear on the pu...rchasers' credit card statements. Many ticketholders have let us know they'll be donating the ticket refund to BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund. We're so grateful for this kind gesture, as donations from Bright Nights are a big source of their annual resources. Unfortunately, TicketLeader is unable to automatically divert your refund to Burn Fund. However, if you're inclined to, we encourage those who are due for a refund to donate to Burn Fund directly or to enter their online 50/50 draw: https://brightnights.rafflenexus.com/a/bright-nights-train Thank you again for your continued support and patience, and we can’t wait to see you next holiday season.

It's been a tough couple of days, but we really have to thank everyone for their understanding and patience. As the opening of Bright Nights has now been suspended until December 8th as per the Provincial Health Officer order, we really have to thank both early ticketholders and our hardworking Vancouver Park Board Bright Nights team for their understanding and patience. Many ticketholders have let us know they'll be donating the ticket refund to BC Professional Fire Fighte...rs Burn Fund. We're so grateful for this kind gesture, as donations from Bright Nights are a big source of their annual resources. If you're inclined to, we encourage those who are due for a refund to donate to Burn Fund directly or to enter their online 50/50 draw, which you'll find here: https://brightnights.rafflenexus.com/a/bright-nights-train Thank you again for your support!

The Bright Nights partnership with the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund continues this year, with firefighters on-site accepting cash donations at the Bright Nights entrance! It's a good cause that goes towards supporting burn survivors and their families. If you can't make it down to Stanley Park, the Burn Fund is also holding an online 50/50 draw to raise additional funds! Here's how you can enter: https://bit.ly/3eUewFK

While it isn't Santa's elves who decorate the train route at Bright Nights, the people who do, are just as wonderful! Did you know, every year Vancouver Park Board makes the park twinkle with thousands of lights? Traditionally, volunteers with the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund also help to transform the train plaza into a winter wonderland; this year they'll be lighting the way from the #BrightNightsYVR entrance to the train platform. It's dedicated and generous people like these that keep Bright Nights shining! Note: This photo was taken in 2019 before masks and physical distancing protocols were necessary.

These penguins have got the right idea! Physical distancing, mandatory masks, and sanitization practices will all be in place for this year at Bright Nights in Stanley Park, so you and your flock can have a safe and heartwarming evening. Vancouver Park Board is temporarily suspending the opening of the Bright Nights Train as a result of the new Provincial Health Officer order, until the order is lifted. Ticketholders who have purchased tickets up to and including December 7 will be automatically receiving a refund from TicketLeader; these transactions may take 10-14 days to appear on the purchasers' credit card statements. We are hopeful that we will be able to offer our safety-focused, modified holiday experience when current conditions improve and the order is lifted. We will be sure to keep ticketholders and hopeful visitors informed as soon as a clear timeline is known. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work with the Provincial Health Officer and Vancouver Coastal Health to ensure that we can all have a safe holiday season!

Did you know: usually, #BrightNightsYVR is the single largest fundraiser for BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund every year? This year, with the modified attendance due to COVID-safe restrictions, we'll need your help. Cash donations will still be accepted at the entrance, but this year BC Burn Fund is holding an online 50/50 raffle to make up for the smaller Bright Nights event. Donations and proceeds from raffle tickets go towards supporting fire & rescue workers, and helping those affected by fire accidents. Get your 50/50 tickets here: https://brightnights.rafflenexus.com/a/bright-nights-train

It’s really nice to be able to come and connect with the community and see another side of our job. My favourite part of being a firefighter is getting to give back to our communities in more than one way, whether it's through our charities, calls, or volunteering. The effort that everyone has put into these light displays is just incredible. It's so cool to see the end results after all the hours everyone has put into it. The whole operation is around 3 months. And the job... really varies. Last year I spent an entire day just washing all of these white panels with a pressure washer. Everyone here gives as much as they can, and they balance it all between work, family time, and a personal life. It’s an amazing thing to be a part of. - Derek Lowe, Maple Ridge Fire Fighter Well, we're into our final night of #BrightNightsYVR We hope you had the chance to come to visit and ring in the holidays with the people closest to you! All the best in 2019! Presented in partnership by Vancouver Park Board and BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund.

This place was my favourite place to come as a kid. It’s exciting for me to be able to work here now. Every single year this was the thing we would do. The whole family would come. I’ve got photos of myself on the train when I was five years old. The same engines that I work with now, here as an adult. It’s a lot of fun! - James Bodnarchuk, a Front of House Coordinator and Platform Conductor who has been with the Vancouver Park Board for two seasons. With Christmas over, you hopefully have a bit of downtime for yourself now. What better time to bring someone special to the last week of #BrightNightsYVR!
