The Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Department are on scene for a small vegetation fire at an address on Broomfield Rd north of Grafton. Crews quickly applied suppressio...n agent to the fire with success before it spread to a nearby barn. No injuries were sustained during this incident. With warmer weather here vegetation is becoming dry making it easier to ignite. Please be mindful of open air burning as fire travels fast in dry vegetation.

DRIVER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are anticipating that the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit will be making an announcement about vaccine roll-ou...t across the health unit district in the coming day or so. I have been notified that Community Care Northumberland is seeking to increase its roster of volunteer drivers who will be able to assist with drives to vaccine sites. As the vaccine needs to be kept EXTREMELY cold we are anticipating that vaccine sites will have to be near hospitals with freezers that can accommodate the extreme low temperatures and therefore some of our residents may need assistance getting to those locations. Community Care has streamlined its volunteer onboarding process to ensure rapid uptake for this purpose. If you, or an organization that you volunteer for, are able to assist with drives, please call or email CCN at 705-653-7476 or [email protected]
