As the 3's were exploring dinosaurs this week the finished the week erupting a volcano! Children decorated the volcano scene by placing dinosaurs around the mountain. We used food coloring, baking soda, and vinegar to create an explosion. This week, the 4 year olds have been exploring the sense of sight! In this art experience, the children had a chance to see what it would be like to be blind. Many of the children instantly tried to take off the blindfold when they went to find a marker. Others asked, "What color is this? I can't see!". Before they began drawing, Miss Tessa asked the children what they were going to draw. She wrote it on the paper, then told them to draw it! Puppet play ( pretend and learn) with 3 year olds! Our children spent so much time using their imagination this week. Some played with animal&people figures, some played at the kitchen center, and some pretended to be an animal. To support their interest, we provided children various animal pictures to color, to name (like a pet), and to play with. After the coloring, children built a house for their puppet using various building materials (foam blocks, legos, shaped magnets,... etc.).
