The second wave of blueberries ($5/pint) are coming in, and the birds have moved on, for the most part! We have a few pints at the road side each day and it should increase every few days. We also have our renowned garlic ($10/lb). For bulk orders of garlic, please message us! Unsprayed, chemical and pesticide free! And veganic - grown without animal products. No worries of salmonella or anything of the sort!
I think this summer we'll have to change our name to "Brightside Birds Eat-So-Much". These flocks of starlings just aren't phased by anything, and most of the early varieties already have 90% of the berries 'pecked' (which renders them inedible). Looking forward to the wild blackberries ripening soon to hopefully distract these avians. On a happier note, garlic did very well this year and will be up for sale in about a week. Stay tuned!
Hello, just an announcement that we're running late on blueberry sales this year due to some bird flocks wiping out the early varieties that were ripening. Hoping either our scarecrow or ripening blackberries in the area will better protect the next round! We hope to have blueberries for sale at the farm stand by the end of July. Thanks for your patience.
Brightside’s best girl. Vixen, the feral. She’s a 90% wildcat, 10% drool-while-you-pet-her kind of girl. She lives in the greenhouse but has free reign of the farm.
What’s blooming at @brightsideblueberriesveganic, Spring edition! Lovely times at the farm. Food stuffs will be out before you know it!

Brightside welcomes our Trumpeter Swan guests (counted 94 in the main field today!). Eat all the winter wheat you want, lovelies, and enjoy your stay!
It was a privilege to discuss veganic farming on Animal Voices Vancouver. Check out the podcast here http://animalvoices.org//veganic-farming-and-gardening-wi/
Olives grown at Brightside. It will surely be a long time, and maybe it will never be that these beauties are for sale, but we are proud to have grown veganic olives right here in BC.
It’s autumn at the farm stand! This week we have various varieties of plump, delicious, seedless grapes. We also have English walnuts, garlic, and a few blueberries. It’s the end of blueberry season likely this week. So, come and grab yours today! #veganic #organic #cowichanvalley #locavore
We are thrilled to be tabling at Vegtoria again this year! July 21, 2018 at Centennial Square in Victoria. Come early, as blueberries ran out last year. We will bring as much as we can this year in hopes to have more for you to enjoy! Grow Vegan!!!
Wow! Kudos to the guy (or gal) who managed to pry open our farm stand deposit safe and find.... nothing. ;-) Anyone have any good recommendations for a 'secure' roadside collection box? This one is clearly lacking.
FREE Garlic Scapes available at our roadside stand this week. Enjoy!

It's that time of year when we have blueberries coming out our ears! Please stop by the farmstand at 4661 Bench Road or message us for a bulk order. We have been told by several that our blueberries are the best ever! Grown with love, good karma, and no animal products! Organic, of course!!
Not ours to harm Not ours to farm
Well, looks like our success comes at a price: Someone stole our payment jar (with about $25 in it) from our farm stand this evening. Guess it's time for a lock box! :-/
THANK YOU Cowichan Valley! Our first 'sold out' farm stand today. 19 pints of blueberries. :-)
Our first Sea Buckthorn harvest. Perhaps the healthiest fruit on the planet, but not for the reasons WebMD will tell you: Picking requires the utmost patience and doggedness. The thorns are few and far between, but vicious when you come in contact with one. Add to that, the fruits are borne along the base of the stem, forcing you to push past the thorns for your reward. Finally, the fruits can only be picked one at a time, two perhaps on rare occasions with lithe fingers. Needless to say, Brightside won't be selling these in any quantity...ever (would need to charge over $50 a pint to make it worthwhile). ;-)
We have harvested this year's garlic! It's huge and smells divine. It's curing and will be ready in less than two weeks! This will go fast. So message us for orders! #veganic #garlic
