Because our front area is not big enough for proper social distancing we ask that only 1 person/family comes inside the facility at a time. Please wait outside until the front area is clear, and give yourself extra time when dropping off in the mornings. Thank you! Side note: Even if the pandemic was not in full swing, we ask that you please do not allow your dogs to meet on leash outside the facility/inside the facility or in the parking lot. ... A good number of our clients are working on training and we need our client family to be helping eachother get success, so please! Refrain from allowing any leash greetings with other dogs. The dogs are WAY too excited to come to daycare to be able to get success in an on leash intro; which honestly is something dogs struggle with even when they aren't over excited! Leash greetings are hard, the option to flee is taken away and our dogs often don't feel comfortable in these scenarios - so even if you feel your dog does enjoy meeting on leash, the other dog may not! Gentle Grooming This little man is a nervous one but he rocked his groom today and I fell absolutely in love with him! He wasn't keen on the thought of being groomed but with the help of some anti anxiety meds, going really really slow and listening to his signals when he was showing them to me and rewarding his signals by giving him breaks and space we had a very nice time together!! I did not hold his chin to trim his face because he let me know that was pretty s...cary for him. So I adapted my process to suit him, he allowed me to trim his face so long as I wasn't holding it and he was definitely showing his teeth for a second there but we were using lots of praise and trying to offer him treats through out the process. By the end of the groom he allowed me to trim his face and rested his chin on my hand while I did so. After his groom he kept coming back to me for snuggles and he eventually curled up on a chair beside me and had a nice little nap. This job is more rewarding then anyone will ever know. I get to build trust with animals for a living, I'm so grateful for all of my clients To listen to a dogs signals and let them communicate how they are feeling is so important. Scolding or being harsh with this dog would have scared the life out of him and I would have likely been bitten (and i would have deserved it for ignoring his signals and pushing him) This is why we have our train to groom program and why we LOVE LOVE LOVE using treats while we groom your dogs! We cant tell our dogs it will be okay and have them understand what we mean but we can use food to create good feelings inside of our dogs to help them learn they don't have to worry about baths or brushing or clipping hair and nails etc... Our T2G program isn't only for the babies who are already nervous but also to help ensure that puppies and dogs of all ages can learn to enjoy this very weird and unusual process we call grooming!
