It's not quite business as usual, but it's business as close as we can get right now. There are a few things we wanted to bring to the attention of our patients and those who would like to come and see us at Britannia Dental Centre. * We CANNOT accept walk-ins. This, sadly is the new reality as ALL patients must be pre-screened prior to coming in. We cannot make "exceptions" ~ if you need an appointment please call us in advance to ensure that we are able to see you. We ...are adhering to the rules that were mandated by the Ontario Dental Association about social distancing, wearing a mask in office (except during the procedure) and ensuring that there is no patients (or visitors) waiting in the reception area for long period of times. * Please don't come into your appointment more than 10 minutes prior to the time you're booked unless asked. The Ontario Dental Association and Ottawa Public Health has mandated there needs to be social distancing and the less exposure of patients to others. If you, or your family is sitting for prolonged periods of time in the reception area you are putting yourself, your family and others at risk at an increased risk and we would hate for that to be the case as your safety is our primary concern. * If you've had a COVID test of which you have not gotten the results back you NEED to inform us. Based on the new rules from Ottawa Public Health you need to quarantine until results are received. We CANNOT see you if you have an outstanding result that you are awaiting notification for. (These are the rules we must follow and we apologize for any inconvenience). We do not want you to come in (with an outstanding test) and us not be able to see you ~ we understand how disappointing and frustrating that could be. * COVID Pre-Screening and COVID consent forms are still required prior to your dental visit. This is a series of questions asked (on the phone or by email prior to your appointment) and then on the day of your appointment as well. Yes, there are times it seems redundant, however, we are following the guidelines and rules given to us. We are still doing temperature checks as well to ensure that you are not having a fever on the day of your appointment (touchless). We want for our patients safety. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We are working hard to do our part to minimize the risk. This has definitely been a learning experience. Stay healthy ~ be safe!

Our office is now booking for next week ~ we will begin to see patients on **Wednesday June 17.** If you have a dental concern that you would like addressed next week ~ please call or email ([email protected]) to schedule at time. If we are unable to answer your call please leave us a message and we'll return your call as quickly as possible. Please note that we cannot accept walk-ins next week when we open due to COVID-19. Due to all the additional precautions and safety measures including us staggering appointments to minimize your risk of exposure we cannot have patients coming in without an appointment booked. Some things that are new: * Please wear a mask to the appointment (if you don't have a mask you can use a scarf or a bandana) and please use the hand sanitizer upon entering office (it's the rules we've been mandated by our College). * Please brush your teeth before you arrive for your appointment (to decrease the chance of aerosols * You will be pre-screened with COVID questions the day prior to your appointment (or the week prior if you are booked on a Monday once we resume regular hours). * You will be screened again the day of your appointment. * We will take your temperature on arrival and have you sign the pre-screening form and a consent for treatment form * Please endeavor to use washroom facilities before arrival (as per recommendations of the Ontario Dental Association) ~ bathroom use will be for "urgent" use only. We will try and accommodate everyone as quickly as we possibly can. We appreciate your patience and we are thrilled to see our patients again! Your help keeping everyone safe is required. We look forward to hearing from you!

To All Our Patients & Friends... We Still Care and are Working Hard to Get the Office Ready for You and Your Family! We are working on getting the office ready for you but this takes time. Your safety is our utmost concern. We want to do our part to protect you, your family, our community and everyone that works at Britannia Dental Centre from COVID-19. Since our office closed during this pandemic our staff has been busy taking webinars and courses to benefit your dental ca...re and keep up to date on all the new rules and regulations. Please click on the link below to check out how dentistry will look now. There is definitely going to be many changes and we need your help! Here are some of the key points (but please read the attached article for all the new information recommended by the Ontario Dental Association) : * We will NOT be able to accommodate walk in patients. ALL patients will need an appointment *before* coming to the office (no exceptions). You will need to call the office beforehand and secure an appointment. We need to be able to stagger patients to decrease potential exposure to others and if you show up without an appointment we will not be able to let you into the office nor will we be able to accommodate you at that time. * Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 - we need to leave family members at home that are not booked for a visit in order to reduce exposure to your family and others. * We ask that you bring a mask of your own if you have one. For all times other than when we are working in your mouth a mask needs to be worn. * Hand sanitizer will be provided at the office and everyone will need to sanitize their hands upon entry to the office. * We will triage appointments so those with the most urgent need to be seen will be seen first. We will do our very best to book you ASAP. * The "look" of dentistry has changed since you last saw us and you will notice that the clinical staff now wears gowns and face shields. Extra precautions are being taken to reduce the risk of exposure and transfer. Our office will be open to take calls ONLY starting on Monday June 8th. Our office hours for June 8-June 11 will be 8am-4pm. Feel free to leave us a voice message (Christie will return your calls) or email. We will not be seeing patients during that week as our office is not quite ready but will publish a start date shortly on when patients will be seen. We ask that you be patient with us during this time as we get the office back up and running. We are doing our best and are working as quickly as possible to return to providing you and your family dental care! Thank you for your patience! In order to aid in slowing of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) our office will be closed until further notice. This action was taken due to the State of Emergency in Ottawa as well as the recommendation of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Once the state of emergency is lifted and the RCDSO notifies us it is safe to do so, we will resume business. We will post updates as they become available here on our Facebook page, on our website and on our answering machine ...as well. If you have a dental emergency please call the Ottawa Dental Emergency line at 613-523-4185 or call the Telehealth line in Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we look forward to seeing you all soon. Thank you for your understanding. Dr. N. Parsa & Staff Britannia Dental Centre

*** Our Office Is Closed until April due to COVID-19 *** The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario has strongly recommended that all non-essential dental treatment be postponed. We will revisit this decision as new information becomes available. We are cancelling ALL appointments in the month of March and will keep you updated as to when we will reopen. Based on the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario recommendation the decision to close the office was made. ... It is not a decision that we took lightly. It was decided that the health of our patients, their families, our staff and our community is of utmost importance to us and we appreciate your understanding during this troubling time. If you should have a dental emergency please call the Ottawa Dental Emergency Number at 613-523-4185. If you have trouble reaching them, or if they have no dentist on call that day please refer to the Ottawa Dental Society web page or try calling Telehealth (in Ontario) at 1-866-797-0000 to seek advice on how to proceed with your emergency. We are sorry for any trouble this may cause but we know we must do our part to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Wash your hands, avoid large gatherings, stay home and be safe. We look forward to seeing you once we are cleared to reopen. Thank you for your understanding. Dr. Parsa & Staff at the Britannia Dental Centre

Give A Compliment ~ Create a Smile ~ Make Somone's Day All too often we go through life focused only on ourselves. It's busy, it's stressful, it's anxiety producing. We're running late, things are not going as planned, our boss wants our attention our families want/need attention, traffic woes, illness, budgets we have so many competing priorities. We become self-absorbed (it's human nature) and we often become oblivious to others we encounter everyday and how we impact th...em. I want to propose a challenge ~ a chance, an opportunity to spread some smiles and happiness around. Take the time once a day to give someone a compliment and see the transformation. (Bet they give you a smile and even if they don't I bet it changes their attitude the rest of the day). A simple compliment can transform a person's demeanor and their entire day! Have you ever noticed the joy and happiness expressed when you tell someone how good they look or how you've noticed something new or wonderful about them? Or what a great job they're doing ~ or, how they have a beautiful family, children, home, etc (fill in the blank). Compliment a talent or ability - you're a great cook ~ you have such a fantastic ability to see the good in others ~ you have a beautiful singing voice ~ you have great artistic talent. I've got a great example! Here's some examples ~ to help : Next time you come into our office tell Christie at the front desk how wonder woman-ly she is (she's a huge fan of wonder woman) and watch her smile. Tell Hibo how she's the epitomy of calm waters and how she makes your appointment soooo much better. Tell Christine (she's the one that does the teeth cleaning in our office) that she's the goddess of gums! Tell Dr Parsa that how much you love seeing her! Ok, ok, I joke, however, you get the idea! Just offering up some "inspiration." The power of words can change a person's day and outlook completely. Find something nice to say and say it. (And take your parents advice when they said "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all)!" In a world so full of frustration, anxiety, disappointment and stress ~ what better than to put a smile on someone's face and create a little happiness? It's contagious! Let's make someone's day! Let's spread around some smiles! The bonus your compliment to them is likely to influence what they say to others as well ~ so you've created a positive ripple effect ~ so you not only have the power to impact just one, but many ~ how awesome is that!!!.

Our Premier in Ontario (Doug Ford) has followed through on his promise to fund essential dental care for low income seniors in Ontario. (Under $19,300 for a single senior and $32,300 for a couple). This is a newly implemented plan that you must apply for in advance of your dental appointment. (I will be including a link to the application form for your convenience). This plan does cover "the basics" - it doesn't cover extensive dental treatment like crowns, bridges or imp...lants. It will, however, help you maintain basic oral health and assist you living "pain free" dental wise during your golden years. It isn't without fine print ~ so here it is. Once you apply you must wait to get approved (they will send you a card in the mail if you've been approved). Once you receive the card you are covered at **Government Operated Dental Clinics** and in Ottawa that is operated through **Ottawa Public Health.** The main office for their dental clinic is on Merivale Road (their phone number is: 613-580-9631). I have talked to the staff at the Merivale Clinic (run by Ottawa Public Health) and they are ameanable with us continuing to see our patients as long as it has been approved by their office. If you need assistance once you've received your dental card (approval) in the mail please give our office a call and Christie will give you hand in securing an appointment and getting the necessary paperwork done to continue your care at our dental office. We are pleased to hear that a program now exists for low income seniors who were often left benefit-less once they turned 65 or if they were in receipt of ODSP whose benefits also terminated at age 65. This is definitely a step in the right direction. (Please note ~ dental offices are not obligated to accept this program and general dental offices *must* get approval to see their patients under this program). http://www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca//f/ssbforms.nsf/FormDetail

2020 ~ It's Almost Here! Yes, this is something we've posted on before (and we don't mean to pester), however, we want to remind our patients if you are looking to maximize your dental benefits for 2019 and if your insurance renews on January 1st ~ give us a call as soon as possible to get an appointment booked and avoid disappointment. We are booking the last few appointment spots for November and have limited spots available before Christmas. If you're motivated to utili...ze your benefits before you lose any monies not used this year ~ you need to book now to ensure you get an appointment before year end. (Note: Our office WILL be closed between Christmas and New Years so if you want work done before January 1st we need to complete it before the holidays. Our office will have some extended hours before Christmas - including extended hours on December 23rd). Our staff will do everything possible to accommodate you ~ but you need to help us help you. If you have questions about your coverage, have an outstanding estimate for treatment that you'd like done this year ~ or have a question about your treatment please call our friendly front desk to get assistance with your questions/concerns. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
