Spent family day watching home videos from my childhood! I recently took in all the VHS tapes from my parents to @donsphotoltd to be converted to USB’s. There were so many special candid moments; my first Christmas, my first day of school and moments with grandparents who have since passed. To see my grandparents and hear their voices and see my parents in their 30’s was all quite nostalgic! It was sweet and special to watch these moments that otherwise would sit in a dusty ...box downstairs. I don’t think there is anything as precious as capturing a moment or freezing time. I’m thankful my parents captured these moments consistently! Considering technology has come along ways in 30+ years, these videos are in good quality. Walking out as Mr.&Mrs. Last weekends wedding was beautiful and it was much warmer than it was the weekend before their wedding and the weekend after! The sun was shining with a bit of snow falling. It truly was a beautiful day with such a nice and fun group! In almost 10 years of photographing weddings I’ve never photographed a wedding in this beautiful cathedral church. I’ve redecorated this space a few times, until I realized it needed some greenery to brighten and warm up the space. I moved the majority of my indoor plants to one spot. I like the jungly happy vibe especially on those cold dark days! We have been using it as a reading spot, I find myself here more than ever. I’m embracing the winter right here. Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. love seeing everyone’s posts on how they spent their Christmas! And I always enjoy reading everyone’s New Years resolutions. Its inspiring! I noticed so many choose a word to focus on as their New Year resolution! I rarely make resolutions but rather spend this time of year reflecting, creating and doing things I tend to neglect during the rest of the year! (Like website updates) and come to realize that go...al setting is important and ongoing... I love the low light the season brings. It’s gives me permission to be still and then seeing the days steadily get longer. It’s rejuvenating! As I enter into 2021; my 10th year since photography turned from a hobby to a business. I reflect on all that I have learned since becoming a entrepreneur (and a mom) and wow didn’t realize what it takes until you are in the mix! As I reflect, I have learned being still is just as important as the hustle, sleep is just as important as the sacrifice and the late nights and oh keep hydrated... whatever ignites your soul is so important. I underestimated many of these things that I’m reflecting on. My son who is in grade one recently came home from school explaining they learnt what it takes to keep your cup full it was amazing to learn his perspective. It was all about attitude! Gratitude and passion comes to mind for me. Those are still the 2 main words that are still the same since day 1. I love Dr. Jody Carrington’s quote. Wherever you are is where you need to be I had the opportunity to listen to her speak last January when she was in Regina. Hands down it was moving and it was motivational- one of the highlights of 2020. I am excited to continue this motivation through. I am really excited to be photographing the first wedding of 2021 this month and will be doing some branding photography this winter and a lot of newborn bookings for this spring! I plan to do more mentoring and networking and I’m excited to begin 2021 with the same passion and gratitude as always so stand with those that create light and always have gratitude and don’t let this crazy world drain your cup. #attitudeofgratitude

ONE more sleep Have a very Merry Christmas

The annual Christmas mail Santa a letter photo shoot with my 2 kids Ages 4&6 is so magical at this time of year, I feel like a kid again at Christmas! The kids plug in the tree each morning and I can truly feel the excitement. Having a photoshoot...not so much the first attempt led to doing a second attempt... so here we go! My daughter loved every minute of mailing Santa a letter. My son not so much! And last year it was the reverseGood memories right??! And it’s usual...ly all to do with clothing-flash forward a few weeks ahead, on my very last day of Christmas sessions with my set up, as I was cleaning up my son asked to have his photo on it. It was a Christmas miracle! He enjoyed it. I had no expectations of doing their photos on the setup after the mailbox extravaganza! Going in with no expectations is better.
