Cool day yesterday! Had Jeff out from @quantumbuildingperformance to do a blower door test for us. This house is far from conventional with all the angles and details. We started (pre-drywall) at 1.7 Air exchanges per hour. After going thru the house, spotting some small areas of concern, we got it down to 1.5 Air exchanges per hour. Jeff commented that post drywall we should be below 1.0 Air exchanges per hour which is awesome! Before and After! One wouldn’t think that it should take all that long to install these 9 windows and 1 patio door, but since we do all of our own interior finishing and exterior finishing, we know the importance to taking the time to do things right to assist in the future work! Every window is level and plumb, and in-line with the window above it or beside it! This ensures that the final product with Interior and Exterior trim is ! Here is a look at how we prep all of our openings prior to installing our windows! We take pride in doing all the small details 100% even though no one will see them when the house is done! -Level the sill -Install our slope sill pan from @homeflash_inc which will direct any water that enters the window cavity, and window rough opening to the exterior of the building -Install the horseshoe plastic shims to the home flash adhesive strip (this ensures no penetration to the ho...me flash) -Wrap both vertical side surfaces with typar building wrap -spread blue goo from @envelope_sealant_sk onto home flash and 6 up the sides of the openings and embed the typar into the blue goo to ensure proper seal! -install window plumb,square and level! -install blue goo to nailing fin and extend blue goo onto wall sheathing, and embed our typar wrap that’s installed by our framers into the perimeter blue goo! #doitrightthefirsttime #windowinstall #bluegoo #homeflash #customhomes #brobuilthomes #SmallDetailsMatter
