Sunderland Skating Club Athlete of the Year: This year it is with great pleasure that I announce that Emma Avery has been nominate for Athlete of the year for the Sunderland Skating Club. Over this last year she has shown strong dedication and precision in her skating. She is always enthusiastic and willing to try new things. She takes initiative and ready to work hard, sometimes staying on the ice that little bit of extra time to perfect her jumps, skills or dances. She is a...lways smiling and a true pleasure to watch skate. She also been a great mentor to other skaters and volunteering as a PA for our CanSkate program every week encouraging and teaching our little ones to progress. Congratulations Emma this award is well deserved!

Cannington Skating Club has nominated Ivory LaRose as their athlete of the year for the 2019-2020 Season. Ivory just started skating with us in the fall and has made many new friends. Every week Ivory comes to the arena with the biggest smile on her face and she always lights up the room. Her dedication and hard work shows every time she steps on the ice. When she gets a chance, her free time is spent public skating so she can practice all of the skills she is working towards achieving. Ivory is one of the program assistants for our Canskate program and is a very good role model for the kids. If other PA’s are away she is willing to step in where needed. She is very positive on all of the sessions and encourages both her peers and all of the Canskate children to do their best.

Sunderland Ringette would like to honor Brianna Klei as our Player of the year for the 2019-2020 season. Brianna has been a valued member of our Association for many years. She is an athlete that many of our younger players look up to and respect. Brianna is a tough competitor on the ice -and always gives it her all. Her determination and dedication to the sport has made her the player that is is today. Brianna is a leader on and off the ice and is all-round amazing athlete.... She always shows the utmost respect and sportsmanship her teammates, coaches, opponents and officials. Win or lose, she is a positive leader, offering words of encouragement constantly. She rarely misses a practice and is often the hardest working player on the ice. Brianna also juggles many things in her life. She is a dedicated student and participates in many other extra-curricular activities. She also works for the family business. Our coaching staff is in awe of how she balances her school life with academics and sports. She has her priorities set straight! Brianna, we will miss your positive attitude immensely next season. However, we know you are on to bigger and better things. You are a true gem! All the best and Congratulations on Player of the Year. Message from Brianna: I would just like to thank everyone in the community and the Sunderland Ringette Association for all the hard work and effort they put into the sports around the community. I had played ringette for almost half my life and I am so thankful to be apart of this team. You have made a great impact on my life as well as in others. I have found great friends and companionship in everyone on the team. The coaching staff goes above and beyond to make sure we have the best season each year. Thank you for letting me be apart of the ringette community and experience what a team sport truly is supposed to be like. @StingerzRingette
