Severe Storm Warning issued by Environment Canada Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts. A cold front is expected to sweep through Southern Ontario this afternoon bringing showers and a few thunderstorms along with it. There is a potential that some of these thunderstorms may be severe with strong gusty winds being the main threat. Winds gusts of 90 km/h are possible in these severe thunderstor...ms. Hail is also possible. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Assuming the event was considered a riot or civil disturbance, not an act of war, then the damage caused by the Hulk picking up the car would be covered under specified perils/comprehensive. Depending on the altitude of the spaceship the resulting collision damage may not be covered as it could have occurred outside the the territorial limits of the policy. LOL!

Effective January 1st there are a few changes in provincial regulations coming into effect that could impact your auto insurance and driving habits. In spite of the warm beginning to our winter, all insurance companies in Ontario must provide a discount for drivers who buy and install winter tires. A few of the more notable changes to the Highway Traffic Act regulations include: ... Require drivers to remain stopped at a pedestrian crosswalk or school crossing until the person crossing the street and the school crossing guard are off the roadway. The current act allows drivers to proceed once the person crossing and the school crossing guard are no longer on the driver's half of the roadway. Require drivers to stop before entering the crossover and not overtake another vehicle already stopped at the crossover. Prohibit pedestrians from entering a crossover and into the path of a vehicle or street car that is so close that the driver cannot stop.
