December 12th is Poinsettia day. During the holidays, Poinsettias are a popular plant that people have around their house. The milky white sap in Poinsettias can be mildly toxic to pets. The most common signs seen if your ingests or gets the sap on their skin are: drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, skin irritation, or if they get eye exposure there can be some eye irritation. For more info on Poinsettia toxicity visit https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/poison/poinsettia/.

November 7th is National Canine Lymphoma Awareness Day. Did you know, Lymphoma is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in dogs. The most commonly seen sign of lymphoma is enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, and groin areas. They are not painful, but can feel hard to the touch. To diagnose the cancer, we often will start with taking samples from the lymph nodes with a needle, to look at under the microscope. From there we come up with a treatment plan so that your pet can be comfortable and happy throughout the treatment.
