School has changed over the years, this year especially, but these buildings that hold so many memories for students from long ago are testaments to our strong communities. Students enjoy a happy, healthy holiday with family. Brooks; be kind and be safe.

Artist's Note; Regaliceratops sure was a magnificent animal, however only the skull was found. So how do we know what the rest of it looked like? By comparing anatomy of creatures closely related we can make educated guesses as to how the creature may have been. I decided to showcase a few speculative ideas that other ceratopsions have been given. For example, we know that some relatives of regaliceratops have long quill-like feathers on its back, perhaps in a larger species, seen here, the quills became more large and sturdy. Perhaps they had patches of fluffier feathers for added display or warmth. Some have even speculated that Ceratopsians were omnivorous, meaning they ate both plants and meat! This behavior can be seen in "classic herbivore" animals today!

The buildings have changed businesses, street lights have been installed, and the vehicles have certainly changed A LOT!!

Artist's note; And that wraps up the Ancient Alberta series! Thank you all so much for tuning in and learning about this amazing province and its natural history! There's still plenty more prehistoric creatures i didn't talk about that used to roam around these parts, so look forward to more posts in the coming months! If you want to support me or see more of my work then you can follow me on Instagram @Uncle_red_art !

Artist's Note; We're nearing the end of the Awesome Ancient Alberta series, so of course the museum mascot Corythosaurus had to make an appearance! My personal favorite Brooks landmark has to be the big dinosaur statue outside the museum nicknamed "Cory", so I tried to model my recreation somewhat after it. But you can see the difference in appearance that a few decades of research can make! Note how the statue drags it's tail, where now because of more information, we know that they would have had a straight tail, acting like a counter balance! If you think Cory is just the coolest, come check out our new Cory the dinosaur Tshirts! Available at the museum, designed by yours truly!

Artist's Note; It's not a dinosaur, and it's not a crocodile, so what was the strange Champsosaurus? It belonged to a group of reptiles that are now long gone. This beast truly was a CHAMP as it survived the mass extinction that killed off most of the dinosaurs, commonly known as the K-T extinction. They may look like a croc, but they're a great example of Convergent Evolution; when seperate species evolve similar forms due to similar environments.
