Two day conflict training coming up! Early bird special until January 31st! Why Brave Conversations? Conflict is a beautiful and dangerous thing. It is a catalyst for change and a creator of possibilities. It can bring a depth of understanding of ourselves and others that creates new possibilities. However, it has to be entered carefully, intentionally, and with skill. Most of us are not taught these necessary skills, so it can escalate. At worst, to the point of violenc...e. Our past experiences either stop us from being able to step into the fire, or lead us to dive in too hard and fast. I was one of those people: sometimes avoiding conflict, sometimes pushing things too far and damaging relationships. Always wishing it would go away. In my work for social change I saw so many important communities and projects struggle and fail due to an inability to manage difficult conversations. Eventually, the reality - that conflict is an unavoidable part of human interaction became undeniable. I made a courageous choice to shift my relationship to it. As I shifted my own orientation to conflict, the need for this to become an embedded leadership and organizational practice became clearer. I watched as colleagues blamed each other over differences in strategy. I mourned as people in my organization expected and saw the worst in each other. I got angry when the impact of organizations I worked with was hampered by dysfunctional internal culture. Developing the skills to host brave conversations- where everyone is able to authentically express what they feel and need- goes hand in hand with creating inclusive work environments, and harnessing productivity to meet the enormous challenges of our times. Leaders need to get conflict comfortable. Now, with mediation, workplace restoration, and conflict resolution certifications under my belt, I see my role as supporting others to develop conflict skills, working from a transformative perspective to find creative solutions. It requires reflection and self-awareness, some basic tools and practice. I did it. I can help you do it. I invite you to join me for Brave Conversations: Transforming Workplace Conflict Mar. 6th and 7th, 2019 (Early bird rate until January 31st, 2019). Click here for more information!

Why Brave Conversations? If we had more conflict in the world, we’d have less violence Priya Parker ... Conflict is a beautiful and dangerous thing. This article has good tips on creating a parenting plan if you are splitting up with your co-parent. The only thing is it talks a lot about collaborative law, which is totally great, but expensive. Often a mediator can help with the same kinds of issues for less money, if you are needing help. #divorce #parenting #mediation #parentingplan #separation #conflict #relationship
