If you had the chance, would you know what to say? One of the challenges feminism faces today is how it is funded with the majority of funding provided to white-led and wealthy organizations. Carmen Rojas is the sitting CEO of the Marguerite Casey Foundation, as well as co-founder of the Workers Lab. Both organizations focus on putting the financial resources behind people that wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. Her advocacy for a truly representative economy is why sh...e was named as one of Vox’s Future of Feminism. #womenwednesday #FemWorks #feminist #womenoftheyear #influentialwomen #inspiringwomen #womeninhistory

If you had the chance, would you know what to say? Meet New Zealand’s new Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta. Appointed by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on November 6, 2020 Nanaia Mahuta is the country’s first woman and first Mori woman to hold the Foreign Affairs portfolio. ... She has spent 24 years in parliament holding portfolios including trade, customs, Mori affairs, and youth development. In 2016, Mahuta became the first woman to wear a moko kauae to parliament after taking part in a traditional moko - or Mori tattooing design - ceremony. Due to colonization the tradition of moko was dying out. However, since the 2000s there has been a resurgence in the practice as an important way for Mori people to reclaim their heritage and identity. New Zealand may have the most inclusive parliament in the world, with nearly half of the newly sworn in to parliament being women and 11% identifying as LGBTQ+. #newzealand #womeninpolitics #womenempowerment #FemWorks #indigenouswomen

Today is International Day for Tolerance which is the perfect day to pause and think of the work of JIAS Toronto, an organization helping newcomers to Canada build a strong community. We created this video for them - a labour of love and an honour to meet so many people who now call Canada home. #charity #education #tolerance #acceptance #humanity #diversity #refugees #refugeeswelcome #refugee #asylumseekers #love #immigrants
