#Repost @lovecdnbeef During #WorldIronAwarenessWeek we’re highlighting all the ways that you and your family can make #EveryBiteCount when it comes to meeting your baby’s daily iron needs. They need a whopping 11 mg of iron per day that’s more than Dad needs! That’s why Health Canada now recommends that babies’ first solid foods are iron-rich. Since our bodies absorb heme iron (found in animal foods) the best, the easiest way to start is by giving your tots an... efficient source of bioavailable heme-iron, like beef. You can also help increase the absorption of non-heme iron foods (like broccoli or spinach) by serving them with heme-iron foods, like beef. In fact, heme-iron foods enhance the absorption of non-heme iron by 150%, when they’re eaten together. Vitamin C also helps increase the absorption of non-heme iron so think about adding a squirt of lemon juice to broccoli or serve fruits and veggies with legumes, eggs and tofu. We are so pleased to announce that the Bruce County Beef Farmers are able to make a $1,000 donation with the profit from our Drive Thru BBQ to help feed Bruce County. Home and Community Support Services (HCSS) of Grey-Bruce will use the funds to get locally prepared, nutritious, hot and frozen meals to our vulnerable neighbours. Thank you to the over 500 people that enjoyed a roast beef dinner with their family and friends through our Drive Thru BBQ on July 24! Home & Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce

Bruce County Beef Farmers recently hosted its 49th annual beef BBQ just as gathering restrictions around COVID-19 eased up. This year’s event was a pick-up, dr...ive-thru at the Chesley Community Centre in Chesley. Five-hundred tickets were sold in advance, while 120 cars hit the drive-thru to pick up meals. Three hundred pounds of beef was prepared by by Cardiff BBQ Catering on a BBQ set up outside the community centre. Bruce County Beef Farmers directors and volunteers were each set up at stations six-feet apart to prepare salads and package the dinners. Masked volunteers delivered the meals to people’s cars as drivers navigated the mapped out drive-thru area. Folks were assigned half-hour time slots to plan to pick up their meal. Just over $1,000 dollars will be presented to Home and Community Support Services supporting the hot Meals on Wheels program in Bruce County. #OntFarmerNews #OntAg #OntBeef #BruceCountyBeefFarmers #FarmersGiveBack #MealsOnWheels #Fundraiser Photos by Sharon Grose Photography
