16.00 Wagon Wheels For Chandeliers
On June 3rd, the entire 160th Bruce battalion marched from Walkerton to Chesley through Brant Twp and Vesta (they stopped at Alex Rae's farm, midway for their n...oon meal and fresh spring water). The battalion entered Chesley from the south and marched through town to the school at the north end. The 160th band led the way past the Free Presbyterian Church, William Minke's house before it was moved, and a tent where the cenotaph now stands. See more

This is a (to me) weird looking back to back small tandem steam engine. Cow catcher on one end, looks like the hitch on the other. Says CALEDON on the side, but is from the Grey Bruce Image Archive. Can any train buffs elaborate?

Written on the back of the photograph, "Small engine that hauled gravel cars out of pit behind Saugeen District Secondary School Port Elgin. Reconstruction of Hwy 6, 5 miles south of Tobermory in 1948. Prior to reconstruction, the section of Hwy 6 from Wiarton to Tobermory was one of Ontario's narrow...est highways, with many sharp curves and steep grades. Improvements carried out between the late 1940s and early 1960s converted this winding back road into a comfortable, all-season paved highway. Photo taken on June 21, 1948. See more
Wiarton Echo posted this in March 2011. The Sauble Clipper went up and down the Sauble River. It was run by the Doran Bros from Southampton. This is Captain Morice Doran at the Doran's Boat Livery dock on the Sauble River.

A very sad day on Saugeen First Nation. The Wesley Church on Highway 21 has been gutted by fire. I was told by a local bystander that two other churches were se...t ablaze last night as well. One on French Bay Road and another on Scotch Settlement Road. I was also told that a suspect was apprehended after the OPP found a suspect truck and released a Canine unit into the Bush, three hours later they found a suspect. See more
