We can hardly believe how quickly the time has passed. Just like that our first baby is off to school <3 Safe travels to all the littles walking up those school steps this morning!

April 20th, that's when I drew up the plans for the barn renovations..that's the day we committed to improving our existing space for our animals and ourselves. For the past 5 years we've used this old tobacco shed as best as we could but it's time for more efficiency. Today, we finally got to begin. Demolition is always a mess, but to me these pictures are beautiful. Feeling relief to get this huge project underway and dreaming of how much easier this will make our day to day lives. Tomorrow we should finish demolition and then the fun really begins

Yesterday we celebrated this old soul turning 5 years old! Hard to believe that 5 years ago we were new parents sleep deprived and struggling to unpack our new house. All while caring for this little human the hospital trusted us to take home Henry, oh Henry. We are so proud of the little man you are becoming. Happy birthday, buddy <3

Bread day is the best day

5 years [and one day] ago we picked up the keys to our very first home! Who would have guessed all the things that were to come when we stopped into the lawyers office that morning. This year has caught me in all the feelings, a complete rollercoaster of emotions. I've been happy.. I've been stressed..I've been ecstatic for living the country with the lifestyle we have and I've also been depressed at the thought of all the work that is still left. It's been a reminder that w...hen you're overwhelmed and don't know where to go to stop and look back at everything you've already accomplished. We flipped this house upside down. We've DIY'd our way through renovating every single room including two complete bathroom reno's. We turned an unfinished basement into a licensed kitchen [WHATT]. There were times when I thought the drywall dust would just be in my hair permanently..but we made it through! We brought life into the property, like actually.. Henry was born 6 days after we moved in! We turned barren commercially farmed fields into biodiverse rich pastures and have hatched numerous chicks and birthed the sweetest lambs. We've laughed, we've cried, we've sworn that we would move somewhere 'easy'. But, we've turned this rental property into quite the little farmstead and in the last year we turned it into a thriving little business too! Without Iona rd we never would have been able to accomplish the life we live and for that we're forever grateful. Thanks for having us Iona, cheers to many years to come <3

Our next day for fresh chicken will be this Saturday. We're guessing these will be in the 5-6 lb range with a few smaller and larger. Fresh whole chicken this year is $4.25/lb. Half chickens will also be available, vacuum sealed at $4.75/lb. We still have a few frozen chickens left from the Fall. We're offering these at $4/lb or $3.75/lb for 10+. Our chickens are pasture raised, always free range. All chickens are processed at a provincially inspected abattoir and later but...chered in an inspected kitchen. We have several whole restaurant quality frozen chickens available as a result of Covid-19. Weights range from 5-6.5 lbs (only a few small ones left). These chickens are always free range and are pasture raised, meaning they have free access to move and act as a chicken normally would, while living out their life on fresh grass, eating grass and bugs with not a care in the world. These usually sell for $5.75/lb but we are offering them now at the price of $4/lb with a further discount of $3.75/lb if you buy more than 10! Delivery available to Charlottetown and Montague. #smallbusinesssunday a day late Yesterday we were tied up with errands but were able to sneak away to our old stomping grounds the Downtown Charlottetown Farmer's Market in the morning! Unfortunately we aren't able to be there this Summer but it was nice to walk around and see the other vendors. We dropped by At Your Service Creations to pick up some painting cookies which we later enjoyed under the shade! The kids love them and mom loves a little quiet time

A story out of Nova Scotia but one very similar to all of us in the agriculture industry.. Government must make farming an easier and more viable career for the next generation! Recent events have shown how fragile our food industry can as it's now structured. Support your small farms, producers and shops because once they're gone, they're gone!

Are you still using plastic saran wrap?? Beeswax wrap (or vegan soy wraps) are an easy alternative to this single use plastic! Why put your money directly in the garbage can and contribute to polluting our planet?! I'm making animal crackers for the kids this morning. This dough needs to be refrigerated so instead of saran wrap I've simply wrapped it in our multi-use beeswax wraps and then straight to the fridge. When I'm done I just wash and hang to dry!

We're accepting custom orders on a case by case situation, as our time for these orders is very limited. Contactless pickup options are preferred for these orders. Everyone ready for this heat wave?? The animals and garden are getting an extra watering this morning, while we're busy pushing out projects before the mercury climbs!

Feels good to finish one project...but now a new one begins. This year we're doing a complete overhaul of our existing mini barn. Individual breeding pens for our purebred chickens, an expanded space for the sheep and a new much more aesthetically pleasing exterior. June 10th Update: Orders of sandwich bread and eggs are now live on our website for this Friday, June 12th. www.brysonfamilybakery.ca click on 'Order Today' Based on continued supply chain issues and the increasing demand of our time with the farm and children we have made the difficult decision to hold off on opening the farmstand for browsing and regular open days until July. Until then we'll be continuing our very basic menu of sandwich breads and eggs for ordering.... Pastries and other menu items will continue to be available for purchase at The Lucky Bean daily and Copper Bottom Brewing on Saturdays, in Montague. At this time we are not accepting cake orders. Frozen pasture raised chicken is available for purchase. Please send us a message for more information and to confirm sizing. Fresh chicken will be available in July - dates will be announced soon.
