Curious about the water temperatures in #LakeHuron right now? These maps show the temperatures of the surface water and lake bottom in our lady lake. Enjoy a la...te summer swim? No better time than now to enjoy some beautiful balmy temperatures in most of the nearshore waters (68-72* F). #CoastalScience @NOAA @GLERL See more

Effective July 7th, 2020, the Huron County Fire Chiefs have declared an open air fire ban in Huron County. There will be no open air burning permitted in Huron ...County until further notice. Open air fires are defined as any fire outside of a building. This includes bonfires, campfires, burn barrels, fireworks or any other fires set in open air. Campfires for the purpose of cooking are permitted from noon (12 pm) to midnight (12 am) only. After midnight, all fires must be completely extinguished. As the summer season approaches, and we enjoy more time on our porches and patios, please be aware of the public by-laws regarding noise which may disturb the p...eace of a neighbourhood. "Excessive yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing" is to be avoided at all times, and music or voice amplified through electronic equipment is forbidden from 11 pm through 7 am. Today is the Full Moon! The last #SuperMoon of 2020, this May's Flower Moon, named of course for the blooming of many flowers in the Great Lakes Basin. As far a...s gardening lore goes, The Farmers Almanac says that planting above ground crops is best on the 25-26 and below ground crops on the 15-16. Will you be planting a vegetable or flower garden this May? #lakehuron #gardening #veggies #moon #luna See more

Spring storms on #LakeHuron remind us how POWERFUL our lake truly is! #DidYouKnow that there is a standardized way mariners use to determine wave height? Our C...oast Watcher Citizen Scientists use this method, and it is one we should all be familiar with! The Beaufort Scale is a way to tell other lake-faring individuals how high the waves are, so if we say "The waves are a Beaufort 6", we can automatically understand that these waves were BIG! Have you used the #BeaufortScale before? Photo by Sue Doak Hanson on April 21, 2020 in Whiskey Harbour.

The Staff of the Municipality of Bluewater wish you and your family a Happy Easter this weekend. As you celebrate this year, please practice Social Distancing a...nd remember that gatherings of more than 5 people (other than families of more than 5 living within the same household) are currently not allowed by the Province of Ontario as a measure to contain COVID-19. If you're unable to meet up with family in person, we suggest you use one of the many online applications such as Skype, Zoom, etc. to have a virtual visit. Please stay safe and healthy this Easter. #bluewaterontario #easter #covid19

COTTAGE NEIGHBOURS MAKE THE BEST NEIGHBOURS To you, our snowbird neighbours; welcome home. We were as anxious as your own families to learn that you were heading home, possibly earlier than you planned. We were relieved that you arrived safely and proud and grateful that you understood the isolation period required of you. Kudos to all of you and those returning from other travel. Unfortunately, the Province is asking that our seasonal neighbours don’t leave their permanent... residences and our shoreline includes many American cottage owners who are not able cross the border at this time. We can only imagine how frustrating this must be for all of you. You are our wonderful neighbours and we already miss seeing you. You are our community! Meanwhile, because we are your cottage neighbours, hopefully we can do our best to keep an eye on your property and will contact you if something needs immediate attention, just as you would do for us. This is a good time to make sure someone close to your property has a way to contact you. When Covid-19 is behind us, we can look forward to catching up, sharing sunsets and stories. Meanwhile, the most important thing we can do for ourselves, our family and everyone else is stay home and stay safe. We hope to see you soon.
