Buck Lacrosse 20.10.2021

I’m very excited to be working closely with all of the coaches in Codiac lacrosse this spring! Anyone playing or coaching really should take advantage of the Thursday night training presented by Chet from Laxlife, one of our countries best!!

PRESS RELEASE: MSMFLL Launching for July 2019 Halifax, NS: The Maritime Senior Men's Field Lacrosse League [MSMFLL] has recently been formed & registered as a ...non-profit society in Nova Scotia to begin play in late July 2019. The cities with teams being finalized are Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Charlottetown, & a possible 6th team in Truro. The MSMFLL will play under FIL Men's Field Lacrosse Rules with the possibility of slight adjustments to fit local conditions, and interested players aged 18 & up are asked to fill out an expression of interest form at: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLScpKm3Yg5_KmLqWmC/viewform which will be passed on to the league's team rep. in their closest city. The MSMFLL will operate with a traveling jamborees format consisting of 1-day mini tournaments in each member city where teams will play a minimum of 2 games each in order to cut down on travel costs. Although a full contact competitive league, sportsmanship will also be a priority & the league encourages its players to socialize together after each gameday is over, much like in the rugby community. The MSMFLL is sanctioned by Lacrosse Nova Scotia. The season will start at the end of July & end in late August depending on the final number of teams. Avoiding scheduling conflicts with existing leagues is a priority to the MSMFLL because they want to build the sport & work together with existing leagues for its common growth. The goals of the MSMFLL are to provide an exciting to watch, full contact competitive outlet for university players to stay in shape over the off-season, a place to play for players 18+ who've aged out of u18 field or Junior box lacrosse &/or who are senior aged & want to play as long as they can, a developmental outlet for the university league & hopefully higher levels of lacrosse & to build the sport stronger across the maritime provinces. The league also encourages its players to become role models to their communities & to give back as coaches to youth. The league is being formed to fill a void it's President & founder felt was needed after seeing how field lacrosse leagues worked in other provinces & after being around the NS senior & masters lacrosse community in his different volunteer positions. MSMFLL's President is Ian Readey (Fall River, NS), a young adult with Autism who has started 3 sport clubs for athletes with disabilities in the past 3 years along with being a volunteer sport organizer with adult rec. sport club Halifax PLAYS among lots of other past roles in the maritimes in sports journalism/photography before that. MSMFLL's Vice President Alex Buck (Riverview, NB) is a UNBSJ student who's the former Referee-in-Chief of Codiac Storm Minor Lacrosse in Moncton, & is also the current Vice President of the UNB Lacrosse Club. MSMFLL Treasurer Mike Hayes is a former 2-term President of Lacrosse Nova Scotia, current LNS Past President & holds tons of other roles in the Nova Scotia lacrosse community. MSMFLL Director-at-Large Michael Gilbert is a former President of Lacrosse Manitoba along with dozens of other roles in the sport in his long career. MSMFLL Corporate Secretary Mackenzie Savoy is a UNB student, Secretary of the UNB Lacrosse Club, & has coached youth lacrosse at various levels.
