NEWS STORY Buckhorn Narrows Resort Saturday June 28 2014 Floating Island" ... On Friday evening, a large land mass of bull rushes, about 40 feet in diameter, was spotted by the people of Buckhorn Narrows Resort, slowly floating toward the shore of the resort's swimming area. It stalled on the rocks near sea-gull island overnight, but in the boat traffic of the next morning it shook itself loose and bee-lined toward the resort's North docks. Buckhorn Narrows staff Dale and Doug sprang into action in the resort's aluminium outboard, mounting and pushing the floating island away from the shore. Bob, at his lakefront site, spotted the dilemma and jumped into his 18 footer and rushed out to help the staff. The added horsepower was enough to push the whole island off into the channel, saving the docks and all the boats. And the hot potato was last seen travelling down the channel toward the locks. No police were in the area to cite the renegade island with licence violations. Kudos to Dale, Doug and Bob for saving the day!
