I had a great chat with Alex Martinez tonight! Always a pleasure! We spoke about his professional career so far, The Ultimate Fighter tryouts this past week, his life growing up in Paraguay, and three of the biggest influences on him: his father, Canada, and God. Stay tuned for the full story "From Paraguay To The Pros" early next week!
Alex Martinez is an up-and-coming professional MMA fighter with an undefeated record who is ready to take that next step! After back-to-back finals appearances at the IMMAF - International Mixed Martial Arts Federation world championships and a pro record of 3 wins and 0 losses, this week he is putting it all on the line for a chance to be selected for The Ultimate Fighter. I will be speaking with Alex next week to talk about his experience at the tryouts as well as all the ...trials and tribulations that led him to this point. Stay tuned for that story!
"Journalists must be the junkyard dogs of society; ever vigilant." - Robert Washburn (pardon my paraphrasing, Rob...) Thank you to everyone who liked my new page!... I am hoping to ramp up my efforts in the near future to be able to post content on a semi-regular basis. So, stay tuned! As well, if you or any friends know of a story that is not getting the coverage it deserves, contact me and I would love to hear about it! You can contact me through the messaging on my page, send me an email, give me a call or even shoot me a text!
I am a recent graduate of the "Journalism: Online, Print & Broadcast" program at Loyalist College; wrapping up my education with an extremely rewarding internship at the CBC's "the fifth estate". Beyond my extensive experience in the newsroom at Loyalist College, I have taken part as an on-air talent for OJHL television broadcasts, traveled to Las Vegas with Team Canada to cover the 2016 IMMAF World Championships, written for Jays Journal and now am the editor and social media coordinator for Blakiston & Company and Four Oceans Paddle. To check out all the work I have done over the past few years go check out my online portfolio.
Over the past couple of years (though not so much recently) I have been an on and off writer for Jay's Journal (FanSided), covering everything Blue Jays related. This was an amazing opportunity to work under a great editor, Keegan Matheson, as well as the rest of that awesome team! Go check out all the great work they do to stay up to date with your beloved Toronto Blue Jays and to see all the pieces I have written for them over the years.
During my 3 years at Loyalist College in the "Journalism: Online, Print and Broadcast" program I got to do many stories outlining events and people in the Quinte region; bringing the news that is important to the locals to the forefront. Take a few minutes and check out some of those stories here! http://www.qnetnews.ca/?s=buckley+smith
