Domestic violence or intimate-partner violence in our society is so prevalent and endemic that members of the public have to start taking action .. Awareness of intimate-partner violence is certainly increasing and I think there would be very few people who would say that Nathan Pardy should have remained silent. But there are still people who believe violence in relationships is a private matter between two people and they don’t do anything. I think the only way we are going to stop it is for people to say, ‘No, you can’t do that.’ - Kathleen Healey (Budden & Associates) https://www.saltwire.com//civil-case-alleges-cousin-of-co/
Many of the survivors are quite old and none of them are young," Budden said. "this litigation has been going on for a very long time . And as expected, more victims have come forward since the Supreme Court of Canada decision. https://www.cbc.ca//archdiocese-properties-assessed-mount-

One of the plaintiffs didn’t see the decision announced Thursday he died eight months ago. He was 78. Lawyer Geoff Budden, who has been representing the plaintiffs, made the case establishing the links between the Christian Brothers order and the Roman Catholic Church.
"Geoff Budden, the lawyer for the four lead plaintiffs, said the decision represents a landmark day for the province. "It's now a matter of proven law that the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation was closely involved in the operation of Mount Cashel and has legal responsibility for what happened within those walls" https://www.ctvnews.ca//supreme-court-denies-appeal-in-mou
For 22 years, Budden and his group of lawyers and John Does have been trying to prove the Archdiocese of St. John's should pay for what happened at Mount Cashel To read more of this story, click the link below https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/longform/mount-cashel
I feel it’s a tough day for the archdiocese. I feel joy for the clients. I feel relief that we delivered the results for our clients... And I feel sad for those who didn’t live to see this day. Geoff Budden https://www.thetelegram.com//mount-cashel-victims-victori/
We hope everyone enjoys their holidays We are super excited to see our clients in the New Year!
"I think it brings a lot of hope for survivors of sexual abuse, that you can pursue justice and justice will be there for you. I just think it's a tremendous precedent, here in our province, but also across Canada," said Allison Conway https://www.cbc.ca//mount-cashel-supreme-court-thursday-1.
Jennifer completed her studies in law at the University of Leicester, and joined our firm as a Research Intern in 2019. Since that time, in addition to her work at the firm, she has been working to complete her NCA and bar admission exams, and was officially admitted by the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Student-at-Law this week. She has made herself a valuable member of our team and we know that she will continue to be a great asset as an articling student!

Lawyer Geoff Budden stated on Wednesday: "The problem of course is they're getting older and a number have died along the way, and this further delay is a great worry to them because some of them fear they will not live long enough to see this process end. That's the harsh reality" https://www.cbc.ca//archdiocese-appeal-supreme-court-mount
It’s very hard on the clients. It’s not a surprise to us they are appealing they have made it clear for some years now they seem intent on litigating until all their legal options have run out, Stated Geoff Budden. https://www.thetelegram.com//catholic-church-applies-to-a/
