Productive morning in Ladysmith. Removal of invasive Black Locust and a couple elevations. Took care not to hurt the small Gary Oak or other saplings around the yard.... Third picture was taken 2 hours after starting, with all of the climbing work completed. Did you know that bigger tree services factor up to half the cost of your tree work for cleanup? That means on a $1000 job you're paying about $500 for brush removal. Why pay so much for cleanup when you can hire a different (local) service (or a handy relative) to do the same thing for much less? We specialize in providing the technical work of getting your tree(s) on the ground quickly and safely (and for the lowest rates going,) leaving you with alternative, affordable options for cleanup, helping you make informed decisions so that you can use your money more efficiently! Consult with us to see how we can transform your yard and save you money in the process!

A few before and afters of Thursday's work on a Dogwood in Ladysmith. The original plan was for full removal, as the tree was quite overgrown and obstructing the neighbors view. But, after an hour of work elevating the canopy, everybody was happy and we were able to keep the tree alive!

1300 years old tree, cut down in 1891. Note the events correlated with the tree's circles.

Due to the unpredictability of the ferries through tourist season and the rising fire index, we've begun slowing things down on Gabriola in recent weeks and are taking our jobs there day-by-day. We currently spend 3-4 hours per day travelling to and from our customers on Gabriola, and this new policy change is just another obstacle for us going forward. We are happy to do what we can, but we do bill for travel time and therefore can't offer the same value for out-of-town work that we can for local jobs. I always recommend supporting your local tree people first, but if they aren't available then give us a call! We sincerely appreciate your patience and support!!

What is thought to be believed was the longest log jam in the world took place in 1894 in Little Falls, MN. 7 miles long, a half mile wide, and 60 feet high. I...t took 150 lumberjacks, 5 teams of horses, and one steam engine 6 months to break it up. It was estimated to contain over 4 billion feet of lumber. Look closely at the picture and you can spot the loggers. Photo courtesy of the MN Historical Society

Years ago a clothesline was attached to this tree, and the tree grew around it. I saw that during the estimate but what I didn't see was the wire clothesline that has since become part of the tree, running the length of the stem from the pulley down. Fun!

Fir removal in Ladysmith yesterday and today. Tight drop zone, lots of fun! Square rigged the bottom half and started speedlining about half way up. We need help moving the firewood so it will be advertised as free tomorrow ... Walkem Rd area, FCFS.
