Just a little Pest control humor for the season

It's that time of year to clean your ducts and furnace before you turn them on for the winter. Glenn Regnier of Allfresh Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning does a great job. While he is there, get him to clean your dryer vent too!

For all of those who are wondering, this is taken from the study material written by the BC Ministery of Environment for structural pesticide applicators. "Repellent Sound Devices: Some ultrasonic devices have been registered in Canada for rodent control. They repel rodents by generating a sound that annoys them, but at a frequency that isn't heard by humans... These devices are best used in combination with a sanitation program to remove food sources. Rodents become accustomed to the sound and learn to ignore it, particularly where it is associated with the presence of food. Ultrasonic devices have been shown to be ineffective for controlling insects, therefore are not registered in Canada and cannot be legally sold for this purpose."

Hello to all my awesome customers, friends and followers. Thank you so much for your support. Unfortunately, because of covid 19 I am severely short staffed. Because of this I am already booked solid for the next two weeks and will be unable to take any new calls at this time. Once I have caught up I will start answering my phone again. In the meantime, if you have an existing appointment or are willing to wait two weeks for me or my remaining team member to help, please text at 778-878-6849 or email at [email protected] Thank you so very much.

This is how I spend my Sunday afternoon on a long weekend... Removing raccoons from an attic.

Bugs Plus Pest Services 04.05.2020

Raccoon babies are very cute but don't belong in an attic.

Borrowed from Berkley Wellness University of California. Just a reminder of why Pest Control Services are an essential service, especially in times like this. Q: Are household ants, in large numbers, ever a health hazard? Can they contaminate food or otherwise spread germs?... A: They could be a hazard, at least in theory, since they can carry bacteria and might transfer them to food or an open wound. Various disease-causing organismsincluding E. coli, Streptococcus, Shigella, Salmonella, and Staphylococcushave been found on some species of ants, especially in developing countries. But theres no evidence that this is a significant risk. Regardless of the health issues, no one wants lots of ants crawling on their food and furnishings. Instead of using pesticide sprays, make your home less hospitable to ants: Store food in tight containers. Clean up any soiled dishware and food crumbs. Remove sources of moisture. Follow ants to entry points, and seal cracks and crevices. Wipe up invading ants with soapy water to erase their odor trails. Try ant traps. If these measures don't suffice, you can dust boric acid (wearing a dust mask) or diatomaceous earth (silicon dioxide) into entry points, making sure to keep these substances out of the reach of children and pets.
