M E X I C O We are definitely feeling the holiday spirit in our coffees here at Bugwood! This coffee has all the sweetness and spice of cozy baking the warmth of molasses, cinnamon and nutmeg, but also the taste of a golden brown toasted marshmallow. As it cools, it settles out to a red wine, with some dark chocolate on the side. This coffee is sourced from a single farm in Mexico, and is a natural anaerobic process. This means it sits in sealed tanks with no oxygen f...or about 2.5 days to ferment, and then is sun dried for about 25 days. This is the first anaerobic processed coffee we’ve ever had, and it’s such a unique full flavour and body! Mexico Santuario Project Farm: Finca Zaju Location: Guadalupe Zaju, Chiapas Varietal: Sarmaya, H1, H16 Process: Natural Anaerobic Altitude: 1550m What We Taste: Cinnamon, toasted marshmallow, red wine, dark chocolate #singleorigincoffee #mexico #specialtycoffee #coffeeroaster #coffeeroasterdaily #roasterdaily #coffeeculture #coffeecommunity #coffeelove #coffeepeople #coffee #baristahustle #baristamagazine #bugwoodcoffee #bugwood #smithersbc #yyd #explorebc

E T H I O P I A As we approach the holiday season, this coffee is here to add some extra sweetness into our lives. For us, this coffee is like blueberries coated in dark chocolate. A very tasty, full sweetness with no acidity that we can find! It’s a very creamy body, and leaves you with a lingering taste of chocolate. This coffee is also very unique, as it is a natural/honey hybrid process, which brings out those very crisp and fruity flavours. It’s not something we o...ften have coming through our doors, so we are looking forward to sharing it with you. Koke Honey Hybrid Micro-Lot Location: Yirgacheffe Varietal: Heirloom Process: Natural/Honey Hybrid Altitude: 1800m What We Taste: Blueberries, Raspberries, Honey, Dark Chocolate #singleorigincoffee #africa #ethiopia #yirgacheffe #specialtycoffee #coffeeroaster #coffeeroasterdaily #roasterdaily #coffeeculture #coffeecommunity #coffeelove #coffeepeople #coffee #baristahustle #baristamagazine #bugwoodcoffee #bugwood #smithersbc #yyd #explorebc

ICED COFFEE @ HOME We've been really into our bright and juicy coffees over here, especially on these beautiful and sunny days. If you’re looking for a way to switch things up at home and cool off with us here’s a little iced V60 recipe our roaster Julianput together for you to try at home. Coffee weight - 35g... Grind size - Medium/Fine Brew water - 300g (boiled ~ 97C) Ice - 200g Brew time - 3:00-3:30 *GUIDE* Weigh out 35g of coffee Grind on a medium-fine grind size Fold & rinse paper paper into a separate vessel Place V60 onto vessel containing 200g of ice Add 35g of ground coffee Pour 70g of boiled ~ 97C filtered water Gently stir the bed of coffee grounds with a small spoon to ensure they are all saturated Leave to bloom for 45 seconds Slowly pour 230g of water in a circular motion until reaching 300g Stir back and forth, and left to right Aim for a finish time around 3:00-3:30 Give the vessel you brewed into a little stir with the ice Serve and enjoy *TIPS* Adding more coffee to the brew ratio keeps the strength of the coffee to prevent too much dilution from the ice. Use coffees with higher acidity (like our Papua New Guinean) as acidity adds a refreshing element and brighter notes to your cold coffee. #icedcoffee #icedcoffeeseason #icedcoffeelover #brewmethods #thirdwavecoffee #homebarista #coffeerecipes #morningcoffee #specialtycofferroaster #coffeebrew #coffeebrewing #stayhome #coffeebrewing #homebrewing #homebrew #brewathome #perfectcoffeeathome #bugwoodcoffee #coffeetime #smithers #smithersbc #coffeelover #coffeeshop #specialitycoffee #coffeeculture

What's the deal with all these different coffees? Great question. We're always rotating our brewed coffee options with the exception of offering our Dark Roast - Contract Coffee, every day of the week. This gives us the chance to put a new coffee in your hands any given day of the week. What we want to do is give you the option to try something new. Say you've always wanted to try our Kenyan coffee at home but just aren't sure and always fall back on our tried and true, and y...our favourite... Sweet Morning. We don't blame you - it's delicious. However, if you are feeling adventurous and want to flex those taste buds a bit, feel free to ask us for a taste of whatever we have brewed prior to your order or purchase! Perhaps then, you'll have the opportunity to give that Kenyan coffee a try. We work on sourcing coffees from around the world and want to share them with you. The specialty coffee world has a lot to offer, everything from the extroverted coffees that beg to be heard, want to be seen, the fruity ones, the light and bright of the bunch. To the nutty, milk chocolate and warm hug of a well balanced, introverted one of the group for that comfortable cup at home. Next time you stop in for your cup of coffee and you want to give something new a try let us know and we'll happily share whatever we have brewed for the day.

N E W C O F F E E We're super excited for these. Not one, not two, but three NEW coffees. Okay, okay, maybe two NEW coffees as some of you might remember the Indonesian coffee from Flores, more commonly known as "The Green Dragon" to the Bugwood community. Yes Komodo Dragons live there and there are volcanoes, this coffee is great as it has a nice full bodied, juicy quality to it with a touch of spice.... In addition to the returning favourite, we have two very different, and very exciting coffees from incredibly special places in the world. First up - we got our hands on a rare lot of Peaberry coffee from the Murang'a region of Kenya grown in volcanic soils. This coffee is bright, complex, very berry like, sweet and so delicious. Secondly - Papua New Guinea a neighbouring country to Indonesia that is often overlooked when it comes to producing coffee. This coffee is grown in the Eastern Highlands which is unique as it is a single set of mountains that spans the whole country. These coffees are known to be buttery with great sweetness and truly enjoyable complexities. #singleorigincoffee #indonesia #kenya #papuanewguinea #specialtycoffee #coffeeroaster #coffeeroasterdaily #roasterdaily #coffeeculture #coffeecommunity #coffeelove #coffeepeople #coffee #baristahustle #baristamagazine #bugwoodcoffee #bugwood #smithersbc #yyd #explorebc

Hey all, we hope that everyone is staying safe, healthy, and remaining kind to themselves and to one another as we continue to navigate the days ahead. One of our favourite ways to slow down and show some kindness to ourselves as individuals, is of course with a delicious cup of coffee, which can also be shared with loved ones and those you're home with right now. We are going to be paying a little more attention to our morning rituals coming this weekend as Good Friday and E...aster Monday approach. We've been working hard on some really cool stuff while our cafe has been closed and are looking forward to sharing these things with you in the very near future, so stay tuned, but amidst this too - we're going to take a bit of a break as well. This being said, we're still set up in our Coffee Lab/ Roastery @ 3439 Fulton Ave. in Smithers for whole bean coffee purchases and any brewing equipment that you may need. We'll be here from Monday April 6th to Thursday April 9th from 9am to around 4:30pm. So be sure to stop by for all your coffee and home brewing needs before then! We'll be back in our Coffee Lab/ Roastery on Tuesday April 14th to pick up where we left off. If you have any questions ahead of time, are looking for something in particular, or would like to order ahead of time, feel free to send us a direct message here - email: [email protected] - or call: 778-210-1084 and we'll be happy to help out!
