Building Up 05.02.2021

Big thank you to our long time partner @cmic.software for the HUGE amount (112) of gifts they were able to donate from their toy drive! The holidays can be a difficult time, and last year they were exceptionally draining and isolating. We can't thank you enough for being able to put a smile on people's faces knowing they could bring that same smile and love to their kids. Thank you for your love and support!

This year for Black History Month, Building Up wants to focus on lifting up Black voices instead of taking up space with ours. With the recent racially charged acts last summer, Canadian’s must understand that racism continues to go unnoticed in our workplaces, schools, and governance. Afro Canadian Contractors Association officially launched for Black History Month with the goal of addressing these problems in the construction industry. So there's a premise or an understanding that at this level, you should be a white gentleman making all these decisions building all these fabulous places." Meet Muhammad! Muhammad immigrated to Canada from Malawi, Africa in 2004. He came to Building Up in March 2019 through @tnotoronto after working with Uber and being unsure about his future.. He had the unique experience of going directly onto a demolition site, on his first day. In fact, on his second day he wanted to quit! However, the crew and Building Up Staff were able to teach him and provide the support to get him through it. As of January 2021, he’s still with Building Up as a team lead on our Contracting Team, and he often shows off at his work on his Instagram @malawi_81
