Dean Padar: Sept. 21, 1966 June 8, 2020 It is with great sadness and tremendous sorrow to be announcing the passing of one of my best friends, Dean Padar, at the age of 53. To all of us who played with Dean on the Kamloops Sandpipers he will always be affectionately known as Boog, or Da Booger! Dean was a very dedicated and loving human being. He devoted his love for the game of baseball playing, coaching, and volunteering in the community of Kamloops. Dean spent many y...ears with the Kamloops Sandpipers and Black Sox and was a board member for the Kamloops International Baseball Society. He loved not only baseball but hockey as well and coached women’s hockey teams for 11 years. Dean also coached Frankie, his son, for hockey and baseball since Frankie was 5 years old. For those who knew Boog you can attest to the fact that he was a calm man that wouldn’t let politics get in the way to have fun with the sport. He was a genuine happy guy, and nothing could get Dean down for long.. Dean spent 24 years with School District #73 and had a huge impact on kids from K-12 and their families. A very compassionate loving soul that is going to be missed deeply. See more

The Bullpen Academy is extremely proud to have the honour bestowed upon it of keeping Tyler Tkachyk's name alive via our second annual sponsored player program. Tyler's mom, Usha, will be providing the funding for one lucky player each year to attend the Bullpen 10-Week Indoor Training Program at Lionel Courchene Field. This year (2019) the player chosen is Erick Popovich, who plays for Surrey Canadian. Eric's parents had a chance to meet Usha September 23 to thank her in per...son, and mention how honoured they are to receive the award.
