Beware of black ice this weekend! With our days warming up but our nights remaining cold, a thin layer of ice can form on the road. If your front wheels slip on black ice, don't abruptly brake but rather release the gas pedal; maintain your steering wheel straight and gently press on the throttle. ... If the rear of your car is going sideways, then countersteer while continuing to press lightly on the gas pedal. Once the vehicle is stable, you can get up to speed again. The important thing is not to panic and not press the brakes or turn your steering wheel suddenly.
