Hello everyone, with fall setting in it's time to find a new location for breastfeeding group, which also opens up the possibility of changing the time! Please feel free comment whether or not a morning or afternoon/evening group works best for your family. Image by Wes Hicks

365 days of breastfeeding. She was way to busy entertaining the crowd during her photoshoot to get any nursing pictures, but I love how the bond we have with each other comes out in these pictures. Breastfeeding does not come naturally to everyone, and we definitely struggled so much in the beginning tp get to where we are today! Health Canada recommends babies be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months, and continue nursing for 12 to 18 months and beyond. When people ...ask when Ill be weaning her, my answer always is ‘never!’ When she is ready she will stop, and I know my heart will break on that day after 6 months a baby needs additional nutrition to meet their rapid growth needs. After 12 months they should be getting the majority of their nutrients from foods, but this does not mean breastfeeding is no longer important! When my daughter is sick and doesnt feel like eating, I know my body can provide her with what she needs. And on days she’s being picky, I know she is getting vitamins and good fats from my milk. Antibodies never stop flowing from breast to babe! Every day that I get to navigate life with my child, my body is producing antibodies from things we are exposed to and giving them to my daughter each day. Breastfeeding is still so good for toddlers and their development, and I plan to continue as long as she would like to #normalizebreastfeeding#breastfeeding#breastfeedingmom#breastfeedingtoddler

World breastfeeding week day 3: Oxytocin!! Oxytocin is best known as the love hormone. It plays a big role in breastfeeding for both mom and baby. Having mom and baby in a dimly lit, quiet space together skin to skin can help get that oxytocin flowing! It is very soothing and calming for both mom and baby, making nursing sections relaxing and a nice little break during a busy day. It also keeps mom and baby sleepy at night during night feeds! Random oxytocin fact: the soft v...oice a woman uses to sooth her children actually causes oxytocin to be released in the child’s brain making them feel calmer and more relaxed! This also works on partners and dogs! #worldbreastfeedingweek#worldbreastfeedingweek2020#momsofinstagram#oxytocin#oxytocinvibes

World breastfeeding week day 2: Did you know bats breastfeed?! This is a gray-headed flying fox photographed by Doug Gimesy. As much as bats give me the hibbygibbies, look at how cute that little pup is nestled in and nursing while his momma flies around!! All mammals breastfeed their young. Many women report having such a deep rooted instinct to feed their baby. How amazing is that?? Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post on hormones and breastfeeding ... #worldbrestfeedingweek#worldbreastfeedingweek2020#mammals#normalizebreastfeeding

Today marks the first day of world breastfeeding week! I am soooo grateful for my body and the milk I produce perfectly for my daughter without ever consciously having to put in any effort. My daughter has been breastfed for 11.5 months already! This past week she has been getting her first molar. I am thankful for the comfort and nutrition my body can provide when she doesn’t want to eat solids and is uncomfortable and upset. What do you love and appreciate about breastfeeding? #breastfeeding#worldbrestfeedingweek#worldbrestfeedingweek2020#babies#postpartum#breastappreciation
