New show curated by Megan MacLaurin opens tomorrow at InterAccess Book your visit now at interaccess.org/visit! Most plant, animal, fungal, and bacterial species possess knowledge that allow them to live togetherinterdependently and renewablyon this earth. Human industrialism disrupts this symbiosis, imposing upon the timeworn cycles that have allowed nonhuman life to thrive. Faced with the worsening effects of climate change, governments and industries of all kinds are... seeking to learn from, and work in harmony with, other species to ensure the survival of our own. Decentering human intelligence, leaders now look to prairies, coral reefs, and old growth forests as experts in efficiency and sustainability. This interest in nonhuman knowledge has inspired the growing field of biomimicry, in which engineers, architects, and technologists emulate the structures and systems of nature’s design. Life as we know it is a group exhibition exploring the emergence of biomimicry within new media arts. Participating artists Ananda Gabo & Anastasiya Yatsuk, Keeley Haftner, Robert Hengeveld, Shawn Johnston, Emily Shanahan, and Sultana Zana erode the human/nature binary by studying, collaborating with, and emulating nature’s forms and processes. Challenging biomimicry’s often extractive and instrumentalist perspectives toward the natural world, Life as we know it examines more-than-human knowledge in relation to place, history, and a more sustainable future.

Hello friends, In solidarity with the recent Black Lives Matter movements, we have decided to postpone Feedback Loop 2 | Digital Crits w/ Bunker 2 CAC and other prior-planned events indefinitely. Bunker 2 CAC is taking this time to look into ways that we can better support Black folks and organizations in the long term. We are in a crucial time with lots of momentum that we don't want to diminish or passively ignore. In regards to our upcoming programming strategy, we are car...efully considering how we might add to organizing efforts without being redundant or obscuring existing platforms/resources. The team is actively looking for gaps in the organizing effort that we can fill or assist in filling. We are in the early stages of planning a workshop series in which we can support folks in letter-writing and a critical race studies reading group. We also continue to seek out, share and sign already-existing resources (mostly on Instagram, but we will work on improving our FB engagement). We do not have much money as an ARC (we are frugally self-funded), but we have writing, facilitation, advocacy skills, and industry/academic connections to offer. If you see any area of the current conversation that requires further contribution by people like us, please feel free to call attention to it by emailing us at [email protected]. In solidarity and warmth, Belinda on behalf of Bunker 2 CAC

We're so excited to announce that Talia Golland has joined our team of directors. Concerned with the conceptual challenges and possibilities of moving image media, her work puts focus on queer theories and methodologies within new media and visual culture. In addition to independent curatorial projects, she has previously worked at SAW Video Media Arts Centre and Studio Sixty-Six. Welcome Talia! In this period of transition, Bunker 2 thanks Grayson James Alabiso-Cahill for ...his time on the team and wishes him well as he heads to law school! During his time with us, Grayson's commitment to grassroots publishing and his imprint Successful Press have resulted in several exciting artist publications (a little library of sorts we hope to make more widely available). If you'd like to catch a glimpse of his work before he leaves us for labour law, Grayson's solo show 'After Alexandria' is currently on at the Ryerson Image Centre until December 8, 2019. Stay tuned for more announcements as we ramp up for 2020 .
