It’s difficult to imagine but yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of our first day closed due to Covid. That really brings to light how much we have to be thankful for right now as we can continue to live our lives relatively normally!! Today we have Circle Buns on sale for $2 in your choice of white or whole wheat. ... We also have a trifle on deck for our sale item tomorrow to celebrate a weekend that we are grateful to be open as per usual!! Be kind and safe everyone!!

Cupcake day is a real BIG team effort every year. The fantastic bakers here at the bakery mix and scoop thousands of cupcakes one at a time with remarkable efficiency which are then taken to the Cake Shop on trays and then beautifully decorated one at a time with equally impressive speed and attention to detail. It’s a great cause which we are very happy and proud to help support every year. Stop by, buy some treats for yourself, your family or perhaps your coworkers and help us raise some money for some pets in need!!

Today, we’re giving back to the PEI Humane Society! Our talented bakers have a special for you and one for your dog! Sugar cookies are on sale, $4 for 6. We also have dog cookies, made right here at the bakery, for $2 each. They are dog tested and approved by some of our canine friends! 100% of the proceeds are going to the Humane Society! If you’re looking for cupcakes, Cakes by Buns & Things will be able to hook you up tomorrow, Monday March 8th!... Thanks to everyone for supporting local and giving back! We’ve got dozens and dozens of delectable dinner rolls in the store and on sale for $1.50 a dozen today!! Circuit breaker measures remain in place with a limit of 3 customers at a time. Thanks everyone for your incredible patience. The front store staff have done a great job over the last few days of getting people through quickly and efficiently. The patience and understanding of all our customers has been a big help!!

Good Morning Everyone, We’re into another Circuit Breaker scenario. We are still open regular hours and the store is filled but have moved the customer limit back to 3 in the store at a time for the safety of all involved. We have a table with sanitizer right next to the door for when you are arriving and departing.... We do have our delicious cheesecakes on sale for everyone that needs a treat today. The staff will advise you if you have to wait before entering. We thank you all in advance for your patience and understanding as we all learn to adapt to ever changing times. We do also have some availability for home delivery so if that’s something you would like to take advantage of just give us a call at 902-892-2600. Be safe everyone!! These measures worked well to keep us safe before Christmas and let’s hope it works just as well this time around!!

As we open back up today after a relaxing day off we have an opportunity to reflect on a year that we won’t soon forget. Filled with challenges including being closed for a whole month, a month of curbside pickup and home delivery, customer limitations in our already tight retail area. It does shine a light on everything we have to be thankful for. Our amazing customer base both retail and wholesale who have continued to support us even when it wasn’t so easy to do so. Thank ...you so much. It’s a cliche but very true statement that we wouldn’t be here without that support which leads me to the next round of thank you’s ...... The staff here at Buns and Things and Cakes by Buns and Things are the ones that deserve all the credit for these two stores operating as they do. Their support and hard work during some difficult decisions such as closing the store, coming back to different roles than they previously had, adapting to constantly changing rules, regulations and work environments, all while retaining a smile on their faces (although the masks conceal that now!!!). This incredible group of people can’t be thanked enough. Happy New Year everyone (a day late). And welcome to a new year filled with possibilities. We're back at it! Filling up the store once again after a couple of days of rest. To make things easier on our end (kinda selfish I guess isn't it??) we have Pan Rolls on sale for $2.50. No sweet special this Sunday as we just didn't have time to get one put together. A big thank you to all our amazing customers who came out over the 23rd and the 24th. It was busy, there was almost always a lineup but everyone was happy, patient and great to deal with. Also, if you maybe over indulged we have a fresh batch of all 4 varieties of diet bread (the no sugar and no shortening recipe).

Well, the big day is upon us. Christmas Eve is traditionally our busiest day of the year. Whether that will hold true in the famous year of 2020 remains to be seen. But what I can say is that everyone here at the bakery has done a monumental job of getting the store filled to the brim like any other year. We will be doing our best to get you in and out as quick as possible while keeping the line out front as short as as we can. As always, any product left over will find a hom...e and a purpose in the coming days. We have to thank our amazing customers for their patience. This is a stressful and busy time piled on top of a stressful and challenging 2020. Everyone coming through the store over the last few days have been fantastic to deal with. As expected there are limits on the number of customers in the store at anytime so we request just one person from your car/group at a time (small kids accepted of course - we have cookies for them!!!). We also have several sanitizing stations setup around the store to keep things safe. Hope to see you today, we've got lots of everything to go around including pies, cookies, Christmas treats, breads and of course, fresh baked rolls of all varieties. Open today from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Cake Shop is also open from 10-6 and will be loaded up with rolls and other Christmas Treats if the line at the bakery looks too daunting. We'll be closed for Christmas and Boxing Day, back at it Sunday December 27. Definitely not the Tuesday we had in mind!! Needless to say, we are not open to customers for the time being. We had a situation with some smoke appearing between two pieces of equipment in the production area. Fire department was called, everyone was evacuated. Everyone is safe and accounted for. Massive thanks to the Charlottetown Fire Department for the quick response and help. We will post an update as soon as we learn more.

Christmas season is well underway!!! Today and tomorrow are always busy, hectic and difficult to predict. The addition of Covid into this equation is adding a whole extra element to the season! We’re as prepared as we can be. The store will... Be filled as usual and we’ll get you in and out as quick as possible. We even have Ocean 100 playing Christmas out front if you have to wait to enter the store. Store hours today are 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Tomorrow we are open at 7:00 am sharp (maybe earlier if you’re nice about knocking on the door) and closing up at 5:00 so everyone can go home and enjoy a well earned break. We will also have a selection of rolls, pies and other Christmas treats at the Cake Shop if there is a bit of a line and you just need something quick! Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Well there is no keeping us down, especially this close to our favourite time of year ..... CHRISTMAS!!!!!! We have been up and at since our incident earlier this week and things are largely back to normal. One of our ovens was affected in the efforts to track down the issue the other day so until some parts arrive were down to one oven. So a few things (like bagels) might be a little later than usual but it will all be there!! Today we are trying to get back to the normal l...evel of mayhem for the week before Christmas!! We have Circle Buns on sale for $2. The store is jammed with all kinds of tasty Christmasy treats including our made in house puff pastry shells!! Be safe out there everyone! The last time Cream Pies were on sale was back in February and the world was a little more normal! Your choice of four varieties, coconut, lemon, chocolate and banana cream pies for just $4.50. A small update on the bakery since the recent public health changes. The store is still open and filled with fresh made baked goods. The sandwich counter is still open with hot take out meals at lunch time. We have reduced the number of customers in the store from 6 back down to 4 to allow better distancing and are of course continuing cleaning/sanitizing of surfaces as best we can. The staff are doing a phenomenal job of dealing with this and staying behind the barriers for... safety. We are working on promoting curbside pickup again but we are working on obtaining another wireless debit/credit machine. We will let you all know when h the at happens. Also, George and the little red van are ready to deliver direct to your door in the Charlottetown, Stratford and Cornwall areas if you prefer that option. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are open today from 7:00-8:00 again, so if you can handle anymore pumpkin pie or if you happen to be having your Turkey dinner today, we’d love to see you. Store is filled again as always with fresh baked rolls of all varieties. Also, don’t forget we have a good selection of ADL milk and cheese if you need a few other items!!... It has been a very challenging year at times, goes without saying. But that also brings to the spotlight what we do have to be thankful this year at the bakery. Wow, yesterday was a bit of a whirlwind. Thanks to all our great customers for their patience and the phenomenal staff here at the bakery for getting everyone looked after so quickly. So we’ll celebrate that achievement by doing it again! Our apologies to anyone who missed out on some rolls yesterday, it was a tough call trying to figure out how many to make. Happy Thanksgiving Friday everyone!! I'll try to keep this post as brief as possible but this will be our plan for the busy Thanksgiving Weekend. It's a bit of a beehive of activity around here today as we prepare ourselves for the first holiday of the new Covid lifestyle.... Due to everything going on in the world we have had to restrict the number of customers in the store for the safety of staff and customers. Given the busy nature of Thanksgiving weekend we had to come up with a plan, so here's what we have. - The store will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 7:00am to 8:00pm. We're opening an hour early to allow people to get in and out as quick as possible. - We will be asking all customers to wear a mask when entering the store, this will allow us to increase the number of customers in the store at a time while ensuring everyone feels safe and comfortable doing so. We will now be allowing up to 6 customers in the store at a time. If you make it through the line and forgot yours in the car or don't have one, we will have disposable masks available at the door at no cost to you. - We will also be rearranging the store a little to create more space. - Also, we will be stocking the new cake shop, Cakes by Buns & Things with lots of fresh baked rolls and pumpkin pies. So if there is a line at the bakery, feel free to take the opportunity to check out the cake store for your rolls and pie just up the street at 30 Brackley Point Road .... Look for the old Mercury truck!!. Between the two locations and the higher capacity with masks we hope to keep the line short as possible and moving as quick as we can. We really appreciate everyone's patronage and patience as we try and find our way through these tricky times. We are truly thankful for the fantastic local support we receive on a daily basis but especially during the holidays. OH, and Multigrain bread is on sale today for just $2.50!! Our weekend special starting tomorrow will be our 10" Deep Dish Pumpkin Pies for $8.50.
