Have you ever wondered how to give your pet medications? Well here’s some Tech tips!! In the first diagram explanation, you tilt the pets head up open the mouth the grab the mouth and hold their mouth closed and rub their neck to initiate a swallowing motion. Some pets like to hide the pills under their tongue and in their check pockets so using a syringe with water to rinse their mouth will also help the pill go down. You can also use pill pockets and food to motivate your ...furry friends to take their medications. Some pets however are smart and will eat the food around it or spit it out so make sure they are eating and taking the medications! In the second diagram, as you can see cats and dogs both have a weird space between their teeth so putting a syringe their to in-still liquid medications is easy. Also dogs have little check pockets around their jowls, so you can in-still the liquid there as well, but you need to make sure they don’t spit it out and tilt their head up and rub their neck to make sure they swallow. Using the liquid medications you have to make sure they won’t aspirate the liquid, so making sure you are going fast but not too fast and making sure you aren’t just squirting medication right down their throat. Let us know what other tips you guys would like us to talk about!! #vettechlife #techtips #pilladministration #meds #dogsofinstagram #catsofinstagram #cute #veterinarymedicine #vet #tipsandtricks #helpingothers #burlingtonontario #burlington

This handsome devil is Rufus. Hard to believe when he first came through our door he was just over 1kg. In 2 months he has more than doubled in size! It's so much fun to watch kittens grow! The average kitten weighs 50-150 grams at birth and by week 8 is around 1kg. That's about the time that most kittens go to their new families! Our kitten wellness plan (which Rufus is enrolled in) gives your kitten all the preventative care they need within their first year, AND saves you 40% off the regular cost!

We just want to take this opportunity to remind you that during the holiday season, while giving an animal as a gift is a nice idea - they are so much more than that! They are family, and a 10+ year commitment. They are not disposable after the holidays. If you are giving a pet as a gift make sure the receiver is ready and committed to take care of the animal first!

Monty is growing before our eyes! In less than a month he gained .5kg!! He's slowly catching up to his big brother Rufus, who is only about 8 weeks older than him (but weighs over a kg more!) Like Monty's owner, It's a good idea to adopt 2 kittens! Not only do you get twice the cuddles, but they'll mentally stimulate eachother and generally get in less trouble. They tend to learn faster together and will keep eachother active. They will also groom eachother - helps get the hard to reach places! However, it also has to be right for you. Think about your lifestyle, and the current members of your household.

Beautiful 6 month old Bahia is already over 80 pounds!!! She is here today to be Spayed. Spaying and neutering your pet is important to help keep control of the pet population. Spaying and neutering can also decrease the risk of certain cancers, which will help keep your pet healthy and happy. Some animals become calmer after being spayed or neutered and it can also reduce an animals urge to roam, so less chance of them running away and getting sick or injured.

Did you know that owning a cat or dog can help reduce stress? If you’re stressed, your animal can sense it. They can help improve your mood and help control your blood pressure. Petting them will not only help calm you down, but they love it, so it’s a win-win! They are great for social support and can help with loneliness. Best of all you will get their unconditional love and they will never judge you!
