TIPS FOR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN ONLINE CLASSES: If you instructor is using an online platform to conduct your class, please keep these things in mind: 1. If you are not 'muted' you need to be in a quiet environment. It will be very distracting to everyone else if you have the TV on in the background or someone is washing dishes in the same room. If possible, use a quite environment. ... 2. Pay Attention to your Background. We don't usually pay much attention to what is behind us until we log on to a meeting and can see ourselves. It's often then that you realize that it might have been worth paying a little more attention to what everyone else sees. If you don't have a great option, some platforms such as Zoom have a 'virtual background' that you can set within the Zoom app on your laptop. 3. Please be patient with your instructor. Some instructors already have a lot experience conducting classes in this manner. For others, it may be a new experience and they are learning very quickly how to conduct virtual classes. The more they do it, the better they be become at doing this.
