"Our results suggest that a different paradigm is needed for effectively teaching each breakfall technique that will enable us to substantially lower the risk of judo-related head injuries in novice judokas ..." One positive thing about the Covid downtime is that it gives us time to reflect on our regular routines and how we can improve them in the future. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28276914/"
This paper looks at reduced impact force by placing an underlay under the tatami as part of a strategy to reduce head trauma. That's what we did when we put the new mats system in place at the club. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24067767/
This will be a great zoom seminar. Ms. Zupancic is a very experienced international competitor and a great example of Canadian judo. Skipping rope is an extremely effective Judo training tool. It's the original HIIT routine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-ukPd7ay3k
Caution is always warranted in managing young athletes. https://jamanetwork.com//jamacardiology/fullarticle/2770645
Great foot work.
Your training doesn't have to be complicated. Take a look at Mr. Adams' training guide for great ideas on how to work solo to increase your effectiveness as a player. https://effectivejudo.com/the-ultimate-guide-of-judo-exerc/
However and whoever you celebrate this time of year with, happy holiday to all our judo friends. All the best to you for 2021.
British over 18’s cleared to return to socially distanced judo.
I have been in communication with Bonsor in regard to the latest Provincial health orders and have very good news. Our non-contact Judo program is allowed to continue subject to Viasport and Judo BC considerations. I remind everyone that we are engaging in socially distanced, non-contact, drill and skills development program. We have a waiting list available and depending on instructor availability we can increase our program availability. Johannes Club President https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044AAEAD2EA1FC1-2020
Interesting drill for learning sode hand and arm movement.
Very powerful and precise movement.
We had our first adult class on Friday. Went well and we had a great group of players on the mat. We’ll be taking a granular look at a few standing techniques between now and Christmas to see if we can find some common elements to good technique execution. This evening we looked at the effect of velocity and considered muscle tendon preloading on force application. We are also looking at ways to improve basic movement patterns in a no contact environment. Analyze this video of Mr. Maruyama’s uchimata and see if you determine what he is actually doing.
Great news. We have had a very long standing relationship with the The City of Burnaby , the Parks and recreation Commission and Bonsor staff. These groups continue to support the Burnaby Judo club. Thank you. I'm pleased to say that it looks like we will begin our return to the Dojo in the near future. Our return will look different than when we left off in March but it's a start and one that I am very much looking forward to. We are working out program details and will let ...you know on how we plan on proceeding soon. Stay posted. Johannes.
