Architects Act, General Regulation & Bylaws Course complete!!! The course permits members an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the major topics of the legislation which governs the activities of all Registered Architects, Licensed Interior Designers and Restricted Practitioners in Alberta. While this course is not meant to be a replacement for a thorough reading of the Act, General Regulations and Bylaws, it is meant to provide an overview of the fundamental parts... of the legislation. #albertaassociationofarchitects #architectsact #licensedinteriordesigner #BBID #burtboucockinteriordesigninc. #studio.burtb #canadiandesigner #interiordesigner #yycdesign See more

While studying for my Licensed Interior Designer License through the AAA, I’ve also been digitizing and archiving early projects of my father, architect Bill Boucock. Designed in 1967, the Expressionist-style sanctuary of the St. Andrew's United Church features a symmetrical Greek-cross floor plan, with solid wooden and concrete-brick walls rising on all sides, and then folding back over the flat-roofed structure. An exposed-steel structure at the southwestern corner of the s...ite acts as a steeple, and a low linear pergola leads to the entry. Boucock worked closely with St. Andrew's Reverend Hugh Becking, who envisioned a space that reflected both his desire for a cohesive congregation one that could be centered around the altar and a building that was also cost-effective. Overlapping and receding wall planes accentuate a cross suspended in front of a stepped and up-lit chancel screen, symbolic of the Ten Commandments. Although listed in Calgary’s Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources, St. Andrew's United Church (now Springs Church) has been evaluated by the Heritage Calgary according to the Council-approved policy but does not have protected status. #calgaryheritage #yycheritage #yychistory #municipalhistoricresource #springschurch #churcharchitecture #expressionistarchitecture #heritagecalgary #yycheritage

As time progresses so too does our knowledge how to destroy the COVID-19 Coronavirus. For example, UVC (Ultraviolet Light C) eradicates the virus but is harmful to humans and destroys fabrics. LED/UV-C lighting rings the rooms to not only provide illumination but also rinse the room in UVC light when unoccupied. HVAC is negative pressure with 20% O via Ultra-HEPA filtration. The Coronavirus Recovery Suite began as a discussion between colleagues and professionals considering an environment that could directly contribute to the health and well-being of its occupants, reduce the exposure risk of Health Care Workers and provide the lowest possible opportunity for outside contamination. Virtually every preconception was challenged and reassembled. Most of all, the suite had to feel comfortable and accessible. If we feel good, health follows. Although the suite does not replace an ICU or hospital situations requiring ventilators, the study was to investigate an efficient recovery environment for less serious quarantine. Ran first leg of Antarctica half marathon - virtually! I’m dedicating this run to Yolanda Loo and Rocky La Fleur, and making a donation to mental health and pancreatic cancer. @marathontoursandtravel @designicon @antarctica @runyyc @pancreaticcancercanada @mentalhealthcanada_

Wow. The world has truly lost a design icon, Rocky La Fleur @designicon. The kindest, sweetest, most knowledgeable person in the ID industry. He was never too busy to share his passion with the beautiful things he surrounded himself @kneedlerfauchere. I’ve treasured our friendship over the last 20 years. Godspeed, my dear.
