The only thing we have complete control over in life is how we choose to respond to the situations and circumstances we face. Many people become bitter in life when things don’t work out in the ways they had hoped for. One of the most helpful self-reflection exercises we can carry out is to consider how we’re being received by other people and in what ways we can treat others with a greater degree of honour.

When we make excuses to justify our actions and behaviour we end up going round in circles and changing nothing about the things in our lives that frustrate us the most. It’s only when we take responsibility for the part we’re playing in getting our current outcomes in life that we start taking decisive action towards those things that we want.
