Crafter Profile. 3rd Stop: Savannah Pinsent Savannah Mae was born and raised in Saskatoon and works under the name Swish & Craft The word swish is a word that her mother and her childhood best friend made up when they were younger. Swishing generally translates to relaxing and taking time for yourself. Savannah swishes while she makes a variety of handmade goods with two tiny Chihuahuas, Todd & Daryl, by her side. She has been doing embroidery for a few years now and ...has done many shows in and around Saskatoon. She started exploring the medium when she found herself unemployed with some extra time on her hands and fell in love. She has added her own modern spin onto her embroidery, juxtaposing f-bombs & florals and showcases her quirky sense of humor through her work. Alongside her embroidery, she also makes tiny polymer clay fridge magnets of junk food, dabbles in jewellery making and has recently teamed up with Saskatoon’s new company Bussup teaching a variety of crafts on their Craft Crawls such as air plant himmeli’s and felt Christmas ornaments. You can find her work on Instagram under the name @shittyweekend or search Swish & Craft on Etsy to find her online store. See more

Crafter Profile. 2nd Stop: Art Petes Ang never really decided she was going to be an artist, it just sort of happened over a period of time. She grew up drawing on anything but paper, and has always loved to create things. As a kid, Ang’s dream was to grow up and be Mr. Dressup, with a dash of Tim Burton. Or The Little Prince, with a bit of Salvador Dali. She is of the philosophy that with just the right mix of adventure and weirdness, great things are bound to happen. When ...not making art, Ang is a grade 6 teacher, which she finds to be a great mix of adventure and weirdness. She loves to work with people and has always had a gift for sharing her passions with others. Ang works in a number of media, but mostly in acrylic paint and watercolour with ink. Her work in acrylic is often organic in method and subject. Ang loves the plants and the enormous skies of the prairies. She also appreciates the thrifty, resourceful nature of prairie people, so she works with a lot of repurposed and recycled materials, found locally and otherwise bound for a landfill. Ang loves the challenge of working with unconventional materials which pushes her to explore new textures, colour paletes and formats for her work. Ang’s other work include watercolour with ink, printmaking and other illustrative works. Her watercolour paintings are definitely influenced by her love of cartoons and animation. They are usually whimsical and adventurous, with a good sense of story. Ang has recently started print making and has fallen in love with this versatile process. She’s done commissions on many types of artwork from large scale acrylics, to tattoo design and colouring book pages.

Crafter Profile. 1st Stop: Margarita Popoff Margarita's life has been blessed with meeting inspirational people and experiencing beautiful places. She have always been moved and drawn to the natural colours and the vast palate our world has to offer, which inspires her to manipulate colours into beautiful compliments. She started working with feathers and selling feather jewelry 7 years ago in Nelson BC. Margarita began collecting from farms she worked on in Canada and France..., as well as from hunters and small town fly fishing stores. So far she has about 18 species of birds and over 100 bags of feathers! She takes a lot of pride in supporting small businesses for her supplies, and using sustainably sourced, naturally coloured feathers as much as possible. She tries to carry forward mindfulness into all of her work. Margarita's bamboo rugs are locally handmade with 100% recycled bamboo scrap fabric from Watuko headbands. The bamboo fabric has natural attributes including odour resistance, soft silky feel, antibacterial and insulating properties. There is nothing she loves more than finding a happy home for her creations, and meeting people that are constantly inspiring her craft!
